I was arguing with my uncle these days and he is quite rude at times. He started on how i have a miserable life and how Im failure.
He said that I'm going to get old and I won't have any stories to tell my kids because I spend the whole day in a room (which is not 100% true though), I don't date or even go out with friends.
I thought it was funny for him to say that, because I won't live until I'm old and I would never have children.

Anyway, I started to reflect on what he said and started to try to see life through his perspective and people I consider happy. I realized that life is still boring and uninteresting.
Think about it, what do people do that is exceptional in their lives? These people's lives come down to work, sex, going out to nightclubs and a meeting friends on a weekend. Basically that. Over and over and over again.

A month ago we went on a boat trip with the whole family and we had a crashing with another boat, but nobody got hurt. After that, the subject of the house was the accident the whole time. My cousins and uncles just talked about it as if it were something super incredible that happened ....

I think the reason these people speak so well about life is that they have already gotten used to the monotony and insignificance that surrounds them, so anything thats different or beyond the miserable becomes amazing for them. Even something stupid like a little accident like that.

I guess these people's lives are not much better and meaningful than mine. At least I don't have to work my ass off to support a greedy boss lol

Thinking about it, maybe even if I had friends, a job and a girlfriend I would still find life so insignificant and dull.

I agree that life in itself has no particular value and we should all start acclimatizing ourselves to that reality. It will help if and when one decides to follow through with catching the bus.

Even the people that get most out of life end up getting desensitized to the things that once brought them pleasure. We're biologically hardwired to always seek new stimuli which serves an excuse for most to keep living. "I haven't traveled to here yet", "I haven't ate this yet" "I haven't met my true love", etc . Humans are really just addicts trying to find new distractions because we wouldn't be able to handle life without them.

I have enjoyed temporary pleasures such as massage, travel, connection, animals, getting a good rest, wonderful dreams, amazing food, certain fascinating areas of study, music, legal & illegal substances... which is ultimately not enough to overcome the stress & the tragedy that life brings.

I do think perspective has all to do with it. If people think it's exceptional, then it can be. I personally don't at all and it never will be. Regardless of whatever joyful tidbits maybe come my way. It doesn't matter.

Life on itself has no value. Some people get through their days without ever thinking about the purpose of their life. Others create some purpose in life and succeed. And others want some purpose in life, but fail. The latter tend to be less keen on living.

As I'm sure you know, nothing is objectively exceptional ('special'), exceptionality is determined by brains, subjectively. One brain might determine everything to be exceptional, and another may deem nothing to be, and neither one is correct or incorrect. Values don't exist outside minds.

If you ask me (my brain), certain things in life are exceptional (like the feeling of attraction - I LOVE that feeling). But I recognise that these things aren't universally special, it's only within my subjective frame of reference that they are. Moreover, when I reflect and deconstruct attraction for what it (probably) is - an involuntary biochemical response to certain features to motivate procreation - my passion for it seems always to wane, and I'm left feeling mostly cynical. It has always seemed that learning the truth about life's wonders (like attraction) takes away from their majesty, at least for me. And by truth, I mean what is currently accepted as true by the scientific consensus.

Concluding, do any of these so-called exceptional things warrant existence? Not in my opinion. Suffering drowns it all out with remorseless ease.

You don't have to live to someones expectations
You don't owe anything to anyone
You don't have to have children
Everyone ends up dead at the end no matter how many children you had
That being said life is still great if you're not ill
Do whatever makes you happy.
Drugs will take care of the rest))
