As the title. The one of the reasons I am still alive is the fact that I am so scary of the thought that after death I would stay on Earth as a some kind of ghost as a punishment for taking my life and everything I could do would be observe for example what my family is doing but I would be competely alone without any chance of contact with anyone. The second scary thought is what if I will be taken to purgatory where I will feel pain physically and mentally and I couldnt do anything to stop it.

What do you believe in guys?

Having died a couple of times, I did see other people. There was the brightest light you can imagine. A big blond muscular redneck type showed up, he told me I have to go back. I explained my problems at the time and that i did not want to go back. He said you have to work all that out. I told him if we were in the flesh I'd rock him on the jaw! I instantly wished I hadn't said that as I suddenly became aware he is someone of importance. Then he asked me are you ready? I said ok, then he put his hands on my shoulders and I came to in the intensive care unit. That was the 3rd time I missed the damn bus! Psycho hospitals are not for me. Love and peace to all here. i believe in a lot of things after death, but not in the typical heaven/hell/purgatory.

i'd like to believe in nothingness after death—just an empty void for us to peacefully rest forever. i also like to believe in reincarnation, a second chance in life, because we all deserve one, right? plus, i've always loved the idea that i'd be reincarnated as cat and live lavishly in a loving home haha.

however, i admit that the thought of being bound here is scary. i don't want to spend eternity here, being reminded of my past and what could've been. god, i hope not because that'd be hell in itself.

nevertheless, death is comforting for me.

I didn't literally die, but I saw myself dying. I don't know why but I was convinced it was going to end. I saw a great white light, and I felt propelled towards the sky, as if attracted irresistibly. Also a feeling of fullness, of peace.

But this experience did not change my belief, I believe there is nothing after death, that no longer exist as before we were born. I am convinced that the white light is all in my head.

The universe don't waste nothing just when the caterpillar thought it's life was over it began to fly, this what we call life is the beginning preparing us for the next voyage that's my belief. Life death heaven hell time are all words we created. We created a language to control and to keep us from the real power creator and the truth before language it was colours and symbols. To your question though I believe this is the start the beginning not the end have no fear of what's after . I wish you all the best

What do you mean by death is the beginning? You mean your soul flies somewhere? Or what?

I believe that when we die we cease to exist and that is it for us we are gone. It's just like how before we were born where time passed and yet we were not aware of anything. Non existence is ideal as the dead cannot suffer.
Everything that is wrong with life is finally gone. Death solves all of life's problems and in comparison to the eternity of death our lives feel so insignificant and meaningless. There is no real scientific evidence of any afterlife. It's pointless fearing death as eventually we will have to face it someday.

UE

I wouldn't mind this even if it was the same life other than the few mistakes that destroyed my life.

I've had this thought before, and for some reason it's incredibly sad and depressing to me. The thought of existing but not knowing that the people I was connected with in my past life even existed. My partner. My cats. The few things that are keeping me alive right now. The fact that they might still be alive and I may never encounter them in this life... I'd rather just be dead and done with it.

I think a big reason I'm afraid to go is that there might be nothing at all after death. Would have liked if reincarnation were true or something like that.

Being asleep except with no dreams. Complete nothingness. All things that die experience this. The fact that we think that us, homosapiens, are so special to have a heaven and a hell and other mammals don't is an example of our overwhelming speciesism.

You won't feel sad by that because you'll be gone though. Once your dead you can't have any of the emotions you're feeling right now.

I personally believe that it's most likely eternal nothingness. Then again I've witnessed some paranormal stuff... I'd personally love to get another chance at this life if I can undo my worst mistakes, but I guess that I'm okay with the void as well.

When you start to look at existence through a less human-centered lens, it becomes pretty clear that there's nothing. Do you think the birds or the ants are going somewhere after this? After all we are only chimps. Do you think there's an afterlife for every one of our ancestor species?

Ancestor species? you do know there isn't actually proof that humans evolved from chimps or some other ape.
