Lot of Blue Oyster Cult stuff. A bunch of others too.

Veteran of the Psychic Wars Lyrics:

"You're seeing now a veteran of a thousand psychic wars,
I've been living on the edge so long, where the winds of Limbo roar.
And I'm young enough to look at,
But far too old to see, all the scars are on the inside.
I'm not sure that there's anything left to me.

Don't let these shakes go on!
It's time we had a break from it,
It's time we had some leave.
We've been living in a place,
We've been eating up our brains.
Oh please don't let these shakes go on!

You ask me why I'm weary, why I can't speak to you,
You blame me for my silence, saying it's time I changed and grew.
But the wars still going on dear,
And there's no end that I know.
And I can't stand forever.

I can't say if were ever gonna be free,
Don't let these shakes go on!
It's time we had a break from it,
It's time we had some leave.
We've been living in a place,
We've been eating up our brains,
Oh please don't let these shakes go on!

You're seeing now a veteran of a thousand psychic wars,
My energy is spent at last, and my armor is destroyed,
I have used up all my weapons, and I'm helpless and bereaved.

Wounds are all I'm made of!
Did I hear you say that this is victory?
Don't let these shakes go on!
It's time we had a break from it, send me to the rear!
Where the tides of madness swell,
And been sliding into Hell.

Oh please don't let these shakes go on!
Don't let these shakes go on
Don't let these shakes go on"

Even though I know it's only chemical
These peaks and valleys are beginning to take their toll
Try to convince myself that all it takes is time
But the most derisive voice I hear is mine
It opens all the scars on me
It leaves me shaken in my belief
It takes my hand just to drag me down
It makes me a stranger in the crowd

Give me isolation just for now
I feel a hard rain coming down
I promise I will be back soon
But for now I return to my cocoon

this is a really sad song about loosing a friend to suicide, Roberth smith talks about the regret that he felt by not finding the time to even talk to a friend strugling with suicide, and then wanting to change things, but knowing that he'll never be able to do so and missing him badly.

there are many other songs and even sadder ones about the subject, but this one really speaks to me since i'll be leaving many loved ones behind, and even if in my hearth they are absolutely not to blame, i know that they will not feel the same way and the regret will comsume them for years.

my favorite part of the lyrics is "and you hold me, like you'll never let me go"
because i've been feeling that a lot lately, who knows what embrace will be the last one, if only that moment could last forever.

I wish I could listen to music. It was a huge part of my life as I played the electric guitar. But when I got Complex regional pain syndrome I was unable to listen to sounds and it was too painful. Not to play but to hear it. I can't listen to the radio in my car or anything.

Good taste. The Cure is one of the greatest bands ever.

I know it probably sounda a bit silly but Naomi Campbell's (the super model) whole entire album 'Baby woman'. I discovered it yesterday actually and I think its quite amazing. Everytime I listen to it I feel genuine happiness. I just like her so much.

There's are two songs that make me feel better. The first one is "Life of Leisure" (Its not her per-say song but a cover) One of the lyrics are "Why you wanna waste away?" And everytime I hear it it makes me contemplate what am I doing with my life,do I want to get my life together and do I really want to die etc etc . I do enjoy this type of critical thinking.

The second song is "Looks Swank (Spooky)" and the lyrics go

"Nothing serious no big deal,
Having fun watching you swing by me,
Don't let me stop you I'll just smile,
As you walk your lovely mile.."

It reminds me out the time I was inlove with this girl in high school (who I still love today) and how happy I was during that time esp since she liked me back too. It wasn't that long ago since I graduated last year actually. Ultimately the whole thing flopped but as expected but.....yeah lol. Sorry for the essay :'(

I  BOC!! Buck Dharma is one of the most underrated guitarists who ever lived.
Have you ever seen them live? I've seen them a couple of times. I like the song you printed the lyrics to & pretty much all the songs on their Fire of Unknown Origin album.
My favorite album that they've done is their first live album "On Your Feet Or On Your Knees". It would be hard for me to choose a single song of theirs that is my favorite.
One of my favorite songs is " 7 Screaming Diz- Busters". "Cities On Flame (With Rock'n'Roll) is good too. "Joan Crawford", "Godzilla", "Astronomy", "Flaming Telepaths",
too many good ones to choose from.
Always happy to find a fellow Blue Oyster Cult fan.

Very underated song by Mariah Carey, Hero.

And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you

My entire Vangelis playlist that has kept me sane and driven me insane for years. It's my lifes work and it's not even mine. When I'm not listening to it I want to die. In honour of Blade Runner it was supposed to be uploaded this month but youtube butchered it and Warner blocked it so that's that :hmph:

I'm so sorry youre going through this. Im in the same boat. I have ME/CFS and most of the time music is just too overwhelming and painful to listen. On a good day i can listen to maybe one or two songs on a low volume. Before i got sick i used to say i couldnt survive a week without music. Well..now its been 2 years.

I recommend you all give a listen to Ben Howard (keep your head up, black flies, everything, time is dancing, river in your mouth to name a few but all of his songs are wonderful (changed his style abit for his last album so give those a miss).

A British singer/songwriter/guitarist who writes all his own songs. Best way to describe him is like Ed Sheeran but much deeper with a mild folk/country spin.

Some songs may help your mood, some songs are very deep/emotion so may have the opposite effect

Not a regular country fan but the lyrics in this song sound very sad. Particularly these ones:

There's already rain on my window
I'm dying when the morning comes

I'm Not Afraid. Of all things, a song sung by Frank Sinatra, lyrics by Rod McKuen (an awful poet)... yet here I am. The last verse gets me every time, NGL.

Honorable mention: Last Call, Dave van Ronk. Probably no longer makes sense to me, as I've gave up drinking while I figure out my next step. That was three years ago.
