Based on the reports I've read here, the failed attempts are typically found very soon into the process or call for help within the first few minutes. Of the few I've seen who did neither of those but (supposedly) survived, none comment on the poop stuff. Granted, it's up to you to decide whether they are legit attempts. Same goes with the success stories I guess.
