  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Like we're told constantly that "there is a reason you're here" or "suffering builds character". Why couldn't it also be that maybe some of us are here to commit suicide for a reason? Like as an example to certain people? Or that our suicide would cause grief to family and friends, yes, but maybe they would get stronger and build character from the grief of us dying?

The fact that this angle of the issue is not considered proves that these cringe statements are just said to condition people against the right to die peacefully. Because the burden of enduring suffering is only laid on the suicidal person who's had enough.

I was told this word for word, bar for bar:
"all the things we go through that are hard or painful makes us who we are, it makes us stronger aswell. We're never going to have roses and being comfortable, you know. Cause otherwise you're not going to grow"
but the suffering caused by my suicide (that I won't be there to experience btw) is too much.
The double standard is infuriating.

It might be a double standard but I think I'm just destined to ctb. I think other people always have better chances than me at living. But if I were being logical, then yeah some people are just destined to ctb. Especially in this current climate of mental health issues and crisis. There's just not a system that can support us all the right way.

Yes, I feel like the world always conspires against me, I also have no reason to believe in religion or blindly surrender to God, so, yes, it is quite inevitable. I feel like my role in this world was to be a scapegoat.
There is absolutely nothing for me, even when I have searched for it.

Yeah if someone believes you are here for something then dying of suicide also applies

I find this comforting, to think that if "there is a reason for everything" as we are always told, it just makes sense. Then I don't have to overthink it, the very same people who keep on telling me that "everything happens for a reason" should also see that to ctb is just one of those things. It's simply happening because of what happened before, being on this path leading to destiny, or the ultimate destination following all the reasons that got me here, the final outcome.

"suffering builds character". most of the suffering we endure don't build anything, and sometimes suffering can be so great that it destroys people, it damages them severely and irreversibly. We usually grow in despite of suffering, not because of it.

It really depends on what type of person you are , some people are great at using their suffering as motivation or fuel while others with more sensitivity to negative emotions are destroyed by them.

If it was universally true , they will be a lot more suicidal people in the world since existence is tainted with misery and pain for every human being to some degree.

i really do think everything is predetermined. we all act according to our makeup. as much as you like to think you could have done something differently in a certain moment or over a period of time, you wouldn't have. you acted exactly how you were always going to act, because thats who you are

so yes, some people are on a collision course with suicide from the moment they're born i feel. we have no control over anything. just like you can't pick the when you were born, the circumstances you were born into, you can't control who you are.

where i disagree is that there's any "purpose" to it. the universe doesn't care that much. it just is what it is
