There seem to be a lot of very deep thinkers on this site… I absolutely love it!! Some of these relays are so interesting and informative!

"Do you think people who ctb and people who die more "naturally" get to take different pathways?"

I am literally on the fence when it comes to this, but I'm SO CURIOUS if there's a difference in the way we die, if that affects the way we live out our next life (assuming an infinite universe is true).

I feel like it's one of these three now:

1. We die and fall into eternal nothingness (like a forever, dreamless sleep) until entropy hits and kills everything else in the universe). I'm fascinated with learning about entropy, though kind of hard for me to understand, but kind of what DarkOver was talking about).

2. The Simulation Theory.

3. The Egg Theory or an Infinite Universe (Can/do these co-exist?

Some of this stuff absolutely terrifies me!

#1 doesn't seem too bad. I'm OK with being in a state of a forever, dreamless sleep.

#2 scares me because if aliens were controlling us, then they are absolutely CRUEL creatures!!!!

#3 scares me because I know many people have worse lives than the one I'm living and I selfishly do NOT want to experience their life or any more pain and suffering.

I really appreciate seeing and learning from so many deep thinkers on this site!! ❤️ Just LOVE YOU GUYS!!! 🥰
Entropy is an interesting concept. It's basically the idea that differences must exist for 'things' to happen. Energy is needed for something to become 'hot' for example. However, every time energy is used for something to become 'hot,' some of this energy disappears and cannot be reused for another purpose. Since a portion of energy is always lost, the universe "moves towards" a system in which nothing can happen (the heat death of the universe). All energy / heat becomes "mixed" as in a bucket of water that is neither cold nor hot. Since there's no additional heat to be put into the universe, no additional reactions can take place and the universe remains "tepid" and "lifeless."

In the story, "The Egg," I think there's some type of insinuation that the main character will become divine in some way after finishing the life of every human that has ever lived, but I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly. A sort of "enlightenment" story whereby we're undergoing a transformation to become godlike.
This process feels so PAINFUL! I just want to skip all the many lives I (or……. "we") must live and just jump to the god part already!! 😂

Whooooa!! This is SO interesting! I love the way you said that entropy is "basically the idea that differences must exist for things to happen". I just recently started trying to understand entropy. Basically, everything is in a constant state of entropy? For example, if you don't clean up after yourself, your place would be a disaster. But it's the ultimate heat death of the universe? Is that correct? I need to go back to school!! This stuff is absolutely mind blowing! Feels like all the deep thinkers are on or have been on this site!! I'm so thirsty for a 'belief' in something… even if it just all ends in entropy. I just really feel the deep need to KNOW 100%, but unfortunately, nobody (that I feel) has yet to come back to tell us! I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge on this stuff. So interesting! ❤️

Right! Yes, most things are in a state of entropy. Closed systems aren't. For example, the sun gives energy to Earth, but most of the energy it radiates just floats off into space and doesn't contribute anything to any "process." The tendency for things to become less "organized" means that processes happen less. Energy can be 'created' on Earth just because the sun gives it to us, so the Earth is not in a state of entropy but the universe is. It should probably be noted that technically the energy doesn't disappear, but it does basically go somewhere unusable where no further interactions will take place.

I get the needing to know. I tend to align with people who believe in a sort of existence after this one but where we will likely reincarnate. I tend to think it's less likely that someone who ctbs will reach enlightenment but it may happen! My beliefs are based on past life memories of children and NDEs, as well as prebirth memories. Suicides are often included.

This makes sense. So it's not the planet itself that's in a state of entropy but the universe is. This stuff is fascinating! I feel like I'm learning more about LIFE from this website than I have anywhere else in my life!! I am SO INTERESTED in hearing more about past life memories of children, NDEs and prebirth memories! Do you have any yourself? I really wish I could talk about this stuff to people in person, along with what happens after suicide but someone would probably think I was going insane if I brought this up. I'm so thankful for this site where I can actually bring these topics up without the fear of being judged. ❤️

I don't have any memories myself, but I have some suggestions! My favorites are the works of Jim Tucker, who studies thousands or reincarnation cases. His book "Before: Children's Memories of Past Lives" is a great example. Another good book is "After" by Bruce Greyson and "Why an Afterlife Obviously Exists" by Jens Amberts.

Cases of past life memories in children line up with real-life locations and events that were later confirmed (some in great detail). Some children develop emotional attachments to their previous lives in which they demand to go back to them. It's anecdotal, but there's a lot of great evidence.

"I believe that everyone and everything is on our side". I want to believe this so badly, but I feel like there is too much suffering in this world. I don't necessarily believe that the Universe or god is evil or out to hurt us, it just feels like it doesn't care. There's definitely joy in life, but to me anyway, the pain isn't worth the joy. What would be the end goal of an egg universe? What do you think happens after we all reach full maturity?
So the idea I'm leaning to the most is basically this: we already are this God, but now we're learning about ourselves. We are learning what it is like to not be in unity. What's like to not know everything, what's like to be separated from each other, by our bodies, our genders, races and mindsets. In a sense that you can only truly observe anything when it has an opposition. You can only see light from the position of darkness. Painting needs both light and shadows, otherwise the canvas would stay empty. You can only know warmth if you have felt cold before. Encompassing dualities.

We, as an universe, or God knew everything, except one thing...what it is like to NOT be us. So we voluntarily and temporarily put ourselves into excruciating conditions of this world, where pain is the only constant, to learn what's it's like to be on the outside. And all the yearning for home, love and peace is us learning about our true origin and essence. So in that sense every act we do while here serves a purpose, be it "good" or "bad". I believe our original state is something one can't truly imagine here. I suppose "peace" or "stillness" would come the closest. The neutrality. A fusion of dualities. A true unity.

I'd much prefer this viewpoint to "evil" demiurge(in gnosticism). And even if he does exist, I'd still believe that he, just as anyone else simply yearns to go back home, he just forgot his abilities and instead created this world as a band-aid, in a same way as we like to create art and all the other things just to alleviate the pain and feel closer to each other.

But man, does this mission get tiresome 🥹

This is VERY INTERESTING… and so fascinating….. and makes a lot of sense…… and yes! You're absolutely right, the mission DOES get tiresome! 🥲 I absolutely LOVE reading and learning about this deep stuff… but yeah, it's DEEP!!! I'm noticing there are a lot of deep thinkers on here. I wish I had more deep thinkers in my life to have these kind of conversations with.

I really appreciate your very interesting and informative response! Thank you… so much!!! ❤️

Consciousness, despite the number of neurons, has to do with the cerebral cortex (16 billion neurons) and not with the cerebellum (70 billion neurons). By exporting the cerebellum there is still consciousness, but without the cortex there is no longer existence. Yet during deep sleep the cortex is active, the neurons fire, but in that phase there is no awareness. This is because the cause-effect structure of the cerebellum is modular, while that of the cortex is able to support consciousness since it presents an uninterrupted and decidedly more extensive cause-effect response surface. The same modularity of the cerebellum is observable during REM sleep where the causal interactions between neurons of the cortex are broken down and therefore consciousness is lacking. By stimulating a particular point of the skull, in the various phases of sleep, different integration responses are obtained, depending on the greater or lesser modularity of the cause-effect structure. In other words, by stimulating a single point in the brain, the signal spreads more or less widely depending on the connection between modules at that particular moment. Consciousness is not just a question of "larger area", in fact the whole brain as a whole does not seem particularly suited to integration. Only its rear part maximizes phi. During sleep, one third of the time we are completely absent, but two thirds conscious.
Comparing the areas between the various phases, the main functional difference lies precisely in the posterior area of the brain. It is the most active one in REM sleep, where there is greater concentration of dreams and consciousness, and the one with more slow waves (which are representative of disconnection and unconsciousness) in NREM sleep. Demonstrating this hypothesis is the evidence that the removal of the prefrontal cortex does not result in unconsciousness, but trauma to the posterior lobes is often associated with coma or a vegetative state.
This is a biological mechanism that at a certain point stops working. The dendrites, the axon and the connections between highly specialized neuronal cells that connect with the synapses go nowhere when the mechanism finally ceases its activities. And during life these consciousness generators do not collect information to transfer it to an imaginary and eternal external hardware. All this disappears forever, with or without an infinite universe.

EDIT: So I was thinking more about this… So I (or… we) basically wrote this book, read this book already and have NOT yet read this book, all at the same time?!?! My way of thinking is completely changing, almost like I'm going crazy in my own head over here! 🤯😂
What about animals? As I look at my cat, is my cat me too, or a plant or tree outside, or is it just limited to humans? Holy shit! This feels so crazy to think about but I absolutely love it!! 🤣
Ahahaha ikr it's absolutely dumbfounding, I feel like a mad scientist discussing this, just missing a crazy hairdo 😄 it makes me go cuckoo as well, but in a good way, it brings me a sense of peace and comfort, as in everything is going to be ok in the end, and if it's not, we're not at the end yet.
And yes, I believe if you decide to go with this concept, it would include everything in this world, not just people. We are everyone and everything.

Also I think Simpsons were onto something hahha

Hopefully something better than this? But who knows. There is this image in my head though everytime i imagine my suicide, me looking down at my lifeless body, my head tilted side ways with indifference....sorry too much NDE :)
Nooooooooo! Definitely NOT "too much NDE"!!! I want to hear MORE now!!!! What was your NDE like?? If you don't mind sharing your experience, I am BEYOND CURIOUS! Only of course, only if it's not too painful for you to talk about. ❤️‍🩹 If it was blissful AT ALL, I would absolutely love to hear more!!! ❤️

You return to primordial formless consciousness/soul richer with the human experience.. based on your beliefs and karmic luggage you'll go through atestations and purification process that supposed to help heal your mind of unwanted impressions from toxic human culture.. first stop according to buddhists is the world of Light and Sound that is 7 times clearer than the physical spacetime hologram. Sounds like fun to me!

In my opinion eternalism or the block universe is an interesting idea. The universe is a 4 dimensional entity and our lives are little elemets of it. This means of course full determination and no free will. As if our life is a video tape and living means watching this video. When we come to the end of the video it still exists.

There is no conclusive evidence. You may interpret/believe in whatever you like. One thing's for sure though , our corpse will rot. Our body too rotten to contain the soul . Thus our soul has to go somewhere? I guess?

Does anyone have any research literature or even just your own personal thoughts on what happens to people who take their own lives if we were living (hypothetical speaking……. possibly) in an infinite universe? ♾️

Thanks for sharing! ❤️

EDIT: I think I read somewhere that Buddhists believe that when you suicide, you continue to do the same thing (kill yourself) over and over again in every life. PLEASE correct me if this is not accurate. I hope this is NOT accurate!

I think I'd prefer eternal nothingness.
I think it's just eternal sleep

There is a channel called Channeling Erik on youtube. A doctors whose son ctb has mediums come on and channel her son and famous people who have died. Its a little "out there" but still interesting to watch. They talk a lot about soul contracts and say it is in some peoples contract to ctb as an exit point which is interesting

What you wrote about Buddhists is certainly not true. There are countless theories, assumptions and interpretations of what happens after CTB, of course no one can know for sure and everything remains in the domain of assumptions. I am of the opinion that whatever happens or it doesn't happen, nothing spectacular happens at all. The harmony of the universe would be the only constant that seems certain to me and which is ultimately the only thing that keeps everything in some balance. I will try to look for and post some useful ones links where some answers are attempted.

Hi, I've been to different resources and forums where this was discussed. Here is one interesting story of a guy (it looks like a fantasy, but these are his words)

"I have been a trusting child since my early childhood, and one day I was told that by tearing off a leaf and tearing off a piece of it, you can avoid death and return to that moment, which is what I started doing. At one point, I, being a 7-year-old boy, fell from a hill with my head on a stone, because of which I should have died, but only after the inevitable darkness I found myself at the moment when I threw out a leaf, then I did not really understand and considered everything that was happening a dream, but I did not go to that hill anymore because I felt an instinctive fear of it, after that I forgot about this feature but continued to tear off leaves, this was until I cut my throat at the age of 14 because of bullying at school, when I also that time instead of death opened my eyes at the moment of throwing out a leaf I understood everything. And immediately went to make money, saved, remembered the outcomes on bets and again cut his throat, only instead of winning I got nonsense, because the results of the matches changed. In addition, in the photo where I was with my family and who instead of a Sim cat had a damn Labrador, and when I asked my parents about this, they twirled their fingers at their temples and began to assure that we never had cats. Around the same time, I came across one of the videos about quantum immortality" and the corresponding thought experiment that seemed to me to explain what was happening to me, and I finally understood that after death, a person decides with his own faith where he will end up, if he believes that he will go to heaven, he will end up in heaven. The world of one piece - in the world of this anime, etc. I tried to change my faith, but everything went extremely badly, I still rolled back in time and space, apparently to another version of reality. How long this will last - I don't know, in any case, I don't care about it anymore. It is impossible to return to the original reality. You can only accidentally (or consciously) get into a reality where your physical body (at the level of neurons in the brain) remembers what happened to you (with its old memory). If a person does not believe in anything, the memory will be erased and the observer will again begin to observe from a clean slate." This anonymous person also said funny things that sometimes change in other versions of reality (there are an infinite number of them, and in one there was no Australia) - in one, Hitler's Germany won (little changed), in another - there are a lot of people of a strange race - like black albinos, but with an admixture of Asian blood. But this, of course, looks just fantastic. More serious and real things happen in Tibet, as far as I know.

Personally, I asked myself this question, and came to the following: the entire material world consists of elementary particles - protons, neutrons, electrons (and, accordingly, those that are even smaller - quarks, gluons that bind them, etc.). These particles are the same everywhere, but their DISTRIBUTION gives such an effect that from one set gold is obtained, from another - a dog; from one - a tree, from another - a person; from one - water, from another - a stone. Now let's remember the fundamental law of nature - the law of conservation of energy: none of the types of energy disappears into nowhere and does not appear from nowhere, it only transforms from one type to another. According to this law, we are already immortal. It is only necessary to find the connection that will make a new product from our dead remains and elements. In ancient Greece, such a term was used: eidos. It meant the essence of a thing: the eidos of a person is humanity, of a stone - stoneness, of a horse - horseness. No matter how the elements are put together, they will give exactly this final product according to some law that a person does not yet know. This is the law of distribution of elementary particles - the particles are always the same, but they are put together in a different sequence and give a different product FOR SOME REASON I can only guess with an analogy: if a person needs a means of transportation on the sea, he makes a ship. Nature itself would not have given birth to this ship without a person. It is the same with everything that man has created: a machine, a computer, a wire - anything - these are just desires and embodiments of people. In the same way, other things are created, like wood, water and stone - these are desires and embodiments of something else. Our dead bodies (as well as electrical impulses in the brain (or what gives us the ability to think at all) - will not disappear anywhere. A certain law will simply group these particles into the object it needs. If you loved a certain person very much, or were close to him (friends), and he reciprocated - then, perhaps, these "impulses of love" after your death will gather together with his impulses, simply because they are somehow attracted, and this spark of thought created by the two of you, hovering in the air forever, will one day come to a certain person, and he will experience the same thing that you experienced, but will not understand that these are not his thoughts - but the thoughts of long-lived people who have never left and will not leave this planet. His smile because of your long-standing feelings will be the final fruit of your existence in the world of people.

I just want to thank you for your reply. It's extremely informative, so helpful and interesting! You are appreciated. ❤️

Either reincarnation or reliving life as yourself. 😬
Serious question, but if you relive life as yourself, do you make the same mistakes you did in "this life" or can you make some changes? Because if I start making same mistakes at my 20's, then I might as well just die from old age. I've only heard about reincarnation as a theory, but never of reliving your life again. That doesn't seem very comforting.

I think consciousness springs up again like it did this time and another life is lived in whatever form that may be
THIS…… is my greatest fear. I just don't want to exist anymore.

This is something I heard from one of our forum members but I don't understand it fully.

Interesting theory though regardless. I've thought a lot of what happens after death and at some point I had some sort of crisis about it. I kind of want to think it's just lights out, that's somewhat comforting but on the other hand, it's not.

In an infinite universe? I die, just like in a finite universe. But there will be an infinite number of sentient beings who won't care.

Woah, this was a trip indeed. I don't necessarily believe in all of these concepts, but it is definitely intriguing and thought-provoking. And yes, the law of physics states that energy cannot be either created nor destroyed, only transformed. There's something comforting about this idea.

Do you mind sharing where you read about this leaf guy story? I'd like to get into these circles and do more research 😁

I think it's just eternal sleep
That's my #1 guess too. Unfortunately, nobody (whom I believe in anyway) was able to come back and tell us to prove us otherwise.

I think that everything that lives, dies. The end.

I do believe that our brains are capable of making a LOT of shit up to keep us from killing ourselves or to keep us in a delusional state that feels comforting to us. I sometimes wish I didn't think so much so I can have that delusion. Wouldn't that be great if we all just KNEW (I mean 100% "know") we were going to an ever-lasting life of eternal happiness…… but then perhaps maybe suicide rates would INCREASE if we knew for sure we're going to paradise after "this life". I don't know…… I'm just rambling my thoughts out here! 😂
