I feel the same way. I remember seeing statistics that people were a lot happier in the late 90s and early 00s and I could believe that. Even in the US, in spite of the fact that there was a war, people did seem a lot happier, especially young people. Young people now are more depressed and suicidal than ever before, and that just makes me sad.

I don't know for sure why teen suicide rates were going up in the mid 90s, I'm sure there's more reasons than just "following their leader", but I immediately thought of Kirk's suicide when I saw that stat.

Also, this is just for the stats in the 10s, I imagine it got even worse when COVID happened.
