Is it nerve wracking and stressful? I want a calm day for once.

I can't answer this from an experience-based perspective, but this is likely something that will vary from person-to-person. My thoughts would be if you feel like your ready to die, nerves wouldn't be as bad as if you aren't completely ready yet, there'll probably almost always be some sort of nervousness but nothing that can't be shaken if that's what your mind is set on.

I'm interested to hear other perspectives on this, however.

I found a bridge where you just walk off the side. The few news reports I've read indicate people just pick a spot and step off the ledge without hesitation. That kind of determination is what I want. Many other stories tell of people who linger and get caught. I imagine their fear steadily increases and thoughts of regret start flooding in. I think that happens because some people wrongly climb over the ledge and hold onto it frozen, which makes SI kick in hard.

I don't know what one has in their minds on the day of the "final jump". This varies from person to person. To me jumping is such a cruel and terrifying method that I don't want to even think of.

SI kicked in before they climbed over the ledge. The only way to overcome SI is a state of total desperation with absolutely no hope left for anything, and even then it might be still not straightforward. I wished there were easier and more humane methods available to everyone who want to leave this world but that seems to be impossible in such an anti-suicide society we have to live in. This causes so much more agony and pain to so many of us.

So desperation is the key. Maybe I should toss my car keys and phone over the ledge so it'll show me Im fucked and have to die.

Tbh, if you did that or if it happend by accident, why would you jump after them? there's always a safe way down to the bottom of the valley, to search for key + phone, that's not a reason to jump after them.

I wouldn't be jumping after them. I would be jumping because now I can't drive anywhere and have no choice. What are the chances of finding your keys down below?

Yes sure probably you wouldn't find these things, but you can get a new phone and a new key for the car, it's a bridge, there might be other cars coming by, taking you to the next village to get help or whatever. It's definitely not a reason to jump, at least not for me. I don't know your reasons why you're planning CTB but those are the reasons why you drove to the bridge, and for those reasons you have to be in total desperation, things that cannot and will never change, but not a lost key or phone. Just my opinion.

Problem is I don't always feel the full weight of hopelessness and despair associated with my problems. I often feel very little. Tapping into extreme emotion at will in order to die seems impossible. Dissociation makes it harder to die and easier to live.

I can imagine that a lot of people who managed to succeed with the jumping method were just so desperate and determined, this method is terrifying to me and I can imagine that it would be difficult to go through with because of the survival instinct. I envy the courage of those who left that way.
