The lack of anything. The ability to never feel anything at all. The one feeling I've been practically chasing my entire life. Anything to numb out the pain and dreadful suprises of this existence.

But what about the ability to feel beautiful music, nature, the animal world, great humour, etc.

It's not ALL bad, you know..

If there is whole next life thing I hope it's a good country, I feel quite lucky being from New Zealand theres only 4 million of us and we just dont bother anyone really.

Exactly. Either we won't exist so it won't matter, and if our consciousness continues to exist then we have no freaking clue what we're in for.

Eternal bliss? Eternal damnation? Some weird version of our world but slightly worse? The pain of our death permanently following us into the afterlife? No sort of pain ever again?

Nobody knows. There is no guarantee that death will be peaceful and full of bliss or an empty void of nothingness. We can only hope it will be better than this, but I often fear it may be worse.

Sometimes I think about dreams, where it's purely material made up by our subconscious. Yet we still feel pain, our minds think we are still bound by our physical bodies. Incredibly fucked up shit can happen in dreams, that's really really scary. The only escape is waking up.

What if death is like being stuck in an eternal nightmare where you can't wake up?
Exactly my thoughts but slightly less pessimistic? Where there is consciousness there is suffering. That's what drives life.

I get that morning grimace thing, too. Then I promise myself never to drink so much again.

The end of all suffering. Death is the answer to the multitude of problems which encompass life. The ultimate answer. To me, there is no downside. How can there be? Death is the wonderful end to it all.

It's a pity you feel that way, but I certainly don't. I agree with the 'end of suffering' part, of course, as long as there's truly no other optioin, but I don't see it as an ultimate answer to the 'multitude of problems'. I think LIFE is the answer to that lot. Standing up and fighting your corner as long as you can. And then, only then, when it's really not possible (as with me) to go much further, choosing death as the only way forward.

The downside to death is that for some reason or other we came here to live. We didn't come here to die. Not logical. Most of us aren't given a Disney fantasy role to play, but we have to make the best of it that we can.

For me, life is like going to school. You'd often prefer not to go, but you (hopefully) make pals, and have good and bad experiences, so on the whole you're glad you went. My school experience wasn't that great because of a medical thing, but I still look back on it quite fondly and wouldn't want to choose to erase it all, the good nor the quite many bads.

In short, the downside is that death can be too easy (as an idea, not so much in the practical sense) and convenient, UNLESS you absolutely have reached a point of no return (like me) and it becomes a viable, logical, rational and unemotional action.

The best thing about being dead will be no expectations, peace, no memory, no pain, no fear, no thoughts. I don't want to live with expectations I've created for myself or that others push onto me. I want no memory of the past or fear of the future. I don't want to be in emotional pain or cause or for others. I want to feel at peace. I want no thoughts to constantly think about over and over

I think for me the best part would be to be no longer in pain. To not have to feel scared or unwanted ever again. I personally believe that there is nothing after death. That this is it. I would welcome the nothingnes

That kinda pain means your still alive and well. If you can hurt you can love again. There's plenty more life after getting your heart broken

It doesn't mean you're alive and well. It means you're alive. And when you're in that much pain you don't see the long-term, that you might be able to get over your heart break.
You might be right but you're not acknowledging that other people have a point too. Ctb for some people is getting rid of one thing that feels worthless without the other. Being alive but not well.
