the only thing still keeping me from CTB is this question. I can never know what lies after death and i get anxious thinking about it. Would love to hear other perspectives

I suspect nothing tbh. It'd be just like before we existed to begin with.

Do you remember anything before you were born? i feel it's the same... i won't be here to know or feel anything, 'cause this is a product of our consciousness, and without it, we are nothing... I always like to watch gore videos, or animals in nature, to see, that after you're gone, it probably just becomes void and dark, just like a dream that you can't remember after waking up.

I believe its the most likely answer too. Still hard for me to grasp though

I can't find any other logical answer as well. But I guess I'm still scared of the nothingness, like my consciousness can't fathom the idea of itself not existing

I thing we just dissapear to the darkness. Something about this tells me that it feels like a warm and satisfying abyss honestly. Your energy gets out and stays on earth but we just simply fall into a good sleep.

This is a very common question on these forums, It's very human to fear the unknown.

Your brain is a connection machine, its constantly trying to predict the future based on the evidence of your past experiences.
Since you've never experienced death, there's nothing for your brain to compare it to in order to predict the outcome.

Our experience with DMT has stripped away our fear and anxiety surrounding death.
We actually look forward to it.

It seems rather futile to ponder over this but this is a valid question. After all, humans fear the unknown so they invent things like religion and belief. Religions and belief aside, I believe after death is simply nothing. No memories. No consciousness. Just nothing. Its like before we were born. We don't remember a single thing before we were born so afterlife will probably be the same. But if you do believe in any religion, you might argue that Heaven and Hell exists. For me personally, I don't believe in such things and I believe afterlife is nothing.

imo we don't exist continuosly even while alive. for example during dreamless sleep. you go away during dreamless sleep you disapear. that tells me what i am is an illusion created by the brain.

we didn't exist before we were born and i wasn't bothered by that. problems began for me when i was born big problems , pain suffering etc. non-existence means no chance of pain , suffering problems ever .

neuroplasticity says the brain changes every day with learning rewiring of the neural networks that summarize a "me"

i don't think i'm the same i was a few years ago even though an adult then. different beliefs thinking consciousness.

what i was at 2 , 5 , 10 years old was different and that doesn't exist anymore so am i freaking out? no.

I even changed my conscoiusness thinking in 1 hour a couple of times.

imo if i were to live 10 more years what i will be then will be different so in a way what i am now won't exist just like what i was at 5 doesn't exist now. i 'm an adult now but i think even adult brains can change beliefs thinking etc.

Nothing, I believe that we just cease existing, once we finally lose consciousness that is it for us, we are gone, death is nothing more than an dreamless, eternal sleep where all is finally forgotten about. And I find so much comfort in this, in fact for me ceasing to exist is the only comfort, all that I've ever wished for is eternal non-existence. I'd always prefer to not exist no matter what than to suffer in this cruel, meaningless existence, for me death really is the only peace, it's finally freedom from the futile and torturous burden of existing as a human where there is no limit as to how much agony one can feel.

i think it's a dreamless sleep. i worked in a mortuary & that lowered the fantasy of death for me & i started to understand it scientifically & biologically. your body is an electrical system. just like any device, once you disable the power supply the rest of it is just pieces of metal & plastic, so are "you" and your body. i think once your brain & body has its final surge of chemicals & hormones, you fall into death the way you fall into sleep.
when i practiced my partial hanging to time it, that was exactly what it felt like. it felt like an overwhelming sense of sleepiness, the kind that you feel when you're a kid under a warm blanket. it felt like i was swimming in warm air & everything just started to fade away into blackness
i can imagine that other methods of dying may be less peaceful, but i think everybody gets the gift of total relief of consciousness.

even if there is an after life, or reincarnation, your human psyche & conscience right now, the things that make you "you", shut off & never turn back on again

I have always thought that religious beliefs are all the result of humans inability to accept that when you die …you no longer exist!
I find it difficult to accept that our consciousness lives on inany other dimension or that we reincarnate in another form….why?
Personally I think this is one of the reasons that makes the final act of suicide so difficult but hopefully my determination to end the misery will prevail!

Reincarnation. May be wishful thinking, as I want to live, just not like this, and I always dreamed of waking up in a different, better version of my life. It's definitely still scary though, and I think that's natural.

Well, you consciousness will seize to exist. The components that your identity was made out of will become loose and will spread all over and become part of something else entirely. There's life after death but there's no "you" after death if you get what I mean.

I believe that, after we die, it's just permanent non existence forever. Our consciousness ceases along with our brain hence there is no longer an ability to perceive and interact with the world or with anything. It literally is merely the absence of everything which, to me, is extremely beautiful and perfect. I see this as perfection right here

Good question - and frankly, nobody will ever know but from my first attempt, I believe that there's absolutely nothing on the other side
