I am more into Peep because many here wrote how relatable his music is. I am glad for giving him another chance. His sad music can calm me down which is good for my heatlh.

Today I watched several documentaries about him. Peep also contemplated suicide during his lifetime.

But I am not fully happy with his take. Though there are maybe also some helpful insights. It probably depends on the individual what will help.

11 minute 20 seconds.
I think with his suggestion that future is pretty hard to predict I fully agree. I am always pretty pessimistic and life has proved me wrong in some instances.

Though I doubt that my life will have an happy end no matter how long I wait.

For me personally I very much dislike his advice be grateful for what you have. I don't think this is a horrible suggestion but it depends on how you frame it. I think it can be beneficial to think about your own privileges. I did this in some threads. But he adds: you have to imagine children in Africa don't have shoes. So be grateful for what you have.

Personally I really dislike that. I mean this is easy to say if you have a couple of millions on the bank account. I think I will commit suicide in the future due to poverty and real severe mental health issues. And I hate when rich people tell me "people in Africa (or other regions) have it way worse." I mean poverty is relative. You naturally compare with your peers. It also depends on how you grow up. If you are always used to having a material low living standard you will probably have less problems with welfare. I had a lot of things as a child. I developed hobbies like video games which I simply cannot continue if I live on welfare. And it will break my heart. I love the food I eat. I love the special coffee that I drink. So many things will be impossible for me when I am on welfare. Just thinking that in Africa people have it worse does not make me more happy. I will probably kill myself and poverty is one reason for that. When people tell me this is no good reason for suicide I am angry. I can tell a funny story. When I lost my job I told my sister I have suicidal thoughts due to the coming poverty. She told me welfare is a lot of money and I should think about people who have it worse than me. Yeah she lost her job. And seemingly she changed her mind on welfare. "One could never live with that low amount of money." I wonder why she changed her mind? (irony)
And my family wonders why I don't enjoy spending time with them. Oof.

Tbh the comment when I first watched it made me quite angry. But I like his music. So I don't really care about his stance on it. I imagine him to be a litlle bit more empathtic though.
There are even rumors he might have committed suicide himself.

I know there are many fans of him in this forum.

I don't even really think he even had that much money at the time this interview was made. Not millions at least. I could be wrong.
I do however think he has pretty wealthy parents to begin with.

I just focused on comparing people on the basis of poverty around the world. It's absurd because I have a statement people die too around the world then why isn't it fine and people are dumb too around the world why not be dumb? What do you mean you can't just use it for one thing whenever you think it's going to be a good way to teach someone to be grateful. I am not saying more but once someone said you should be grateful because that person doesn't have that then I just thought why don't you leave all the things you have and be as grateful as us or poor people? Why do they want to mean I know they worked hard but that's not going to motivate me that's first going to make me feel I don't deserve anything even when I am trying. I know their motives weren't wrong they must have been good but this comes to my mind I love these people too and and try not to feel jealous or hate someone I really don't but this demotivates me more and makes me feel more worthless.

I've been homeless on and off for 10 years and I was just as grateful when I was sleeping in them streets with not a dollar in my pocket as I was when I had money in my pocket in a roof over my head. Sadly I wasn't poor in spirit back then and dealing with depression. When you feel completely empty on the inside no amount of money is going to change anything.

I'm curious if they tell depressed shoeless Africans: "Hey, at least you weren't born without limbs, like kids in India!"

Some worker at a clinic literally escalated there immediately, when I mentioned my sadness: limbless Indians

(And I wonder what she was doing with me, if there's indeed a limblessness epidemic raging in India. Shouldn't she help get at the bottom of that phenomenon? Why am I the only one whose actions should be influenced by them?)
