  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

You reckon humanity will bid adieu before we have ubiquitous (as in, free or inexpensive for all) access to euthanasia, for any reason? After say, a waiting period of 6 months / a year of continued certainty? Curious to hear your takes. I reckon progressive coutries like The Netherlands will steadily improve availability but most of the world will stand still on this issue.

No idea what's going to come first. But funny you mention this because just a couple of days ago I officially filed a request for euthanasia.

Considering how far the great majority of countries and people are from even accepting euthanasia for the (physically) terminally ill, and the many factors leading into the "normal" belief of the sanctity of life such as religion and upbringing and culture, I don't foresee voluntary euthanasia ever reaching that point, though scientifically we will go extinct some day.

I do not know, I wish that euthanasia was legalised but the society does not respect our right to die. The society needs workers which is why they try to force us to live. Unfortunately, I do not believe that euthanasia would be legalised for everyone, everywhere any time soon. It is a depressing world we live in, and one that I wish I never had to live in.

What was the process, and in which country, and with what group did you do this? Sorry for so many questions. I am really curious about official channels for VAD, or MAID. It seems like it is just not possible for most people in this community, or there are a lot of hurdles to get past, so most people end up taking it into their own hands.

I am sorry for whatever road brought you here, and hope everything works out for you in the end.

The Netherlands. There's a Dutch euthanasia organisation where you can apply when your GP denies your request (which mine did, as expected). I don't expect too much from it to be honest. It's more of a back-up plan and an excuse to go public about my wish to die.
