Just a question to my fellow forum members sorting their final stages of life out to ponder.

What are you going to do with your social media accounts?

Will it just stop updating, and let your "strange disappearance" be a mystery/worry to anyone following you?
Will you leave a suicide note, or a message letting them know you aren't coming back, or lying about a hiatus?
Will you delete the traces of yourself off the net?

Keep in mind the chance of failing, or changing your mind right before doing it.

That sounds like a great idea, but when something gets on the internet (specially social networks) is hard to get rid off. I think if i do that would be souspicius, maybe a cryptic message but idk.
What would you like to do?

I know a couple of people who have passed away and their Facebook accounts are still open. It's strange to see people leaving m ashes on their board. A memorial of sorts I guess.

I have a small following for my art, and I hate going to other artists' pages and seeing something abandoned. I always want an answer as to what happened.

I think I'd schedule a post on my most active platform that has a very short suicide note. Schedule it far enough into the future so that if I failed, I could stop it from going up.

I was never big into social media. If I attempt I will not fail, I am far to knowledgable among methods have back up methods in mind. I want to write a suicide note, but I honestly have no one I even want to leave a note to. I want more than death, I want to have never existed, I want no one to have any memory of me whatsoever in any way shape or form.

I have two facebook accounts, the first one was sealed by my mind (not to be accessed by me anymore) and the other one I created as a substitute to the former. The latter only contains my few views regarding our president's SONA and a few "friends" for me to contact while I am in need of some researching. I'll let both be as they are. Besides, there's nothing that they can get from the latter, but from the former, if they wish to really know what happened, they must uncover the metaphors of my writing in there.

While this account, well, I'll let it be. I do not even know if I will succeed or not. But just for this site to be safe, I will delete it from my history and from any other registers in this laptop i'm using.

I'm leaving all my login details with my notes: my sister will take care of them, mostly to tell my closest friends what happened.

Can I ask you which is your page?

Also, is your profile picture made by yoursref?

Just going to leave it. Have only used facebook a handful of times in the past decade. That way the news will slowly trickle to people I haven't talked to in years. I prefer they know i'm gone.

I only have accounts on Reddit and Tumblr. This morning I deleted my old Reddit one because someone seemingly went through my history and PM'd me, asking if I was okay. I told them yes, and that it was only because I was going to kill myself. I then realized my mistake and deleted my account. It had over 1000 karma, so it stings a little, but I had to delete it anyway.

My Tumblr will stay active, because there's a rant of mine that I want to go public after my death.

I used to have a Facebook too, but it became completely useless to me, so I deleted it a while ago. I don't know how people from high school will find out I died, but they won't learn it from there.

I'll leave my FB open. There are a few things in it that mention depression, but nothing suicidal. Very, very few people know of my suicidal plans. And those who know, know that nothing is going to stop me.

I didn't draw my current hairclip girl icon, and I don't want to link my page outside of, say, PMs. Just for the very very slim chance of someone recognizing me on here.

I used to be really active on some social media sites and made a bunch of friends and followers. I haven't been on them for months and no one's cared so I guess I'll just leave it as it is.

I'll delete them. It will be deactivated for 14 days before being deleted permanently. If things don't go right, I'll still be able to go on. If I don't succeed with my method, I won't be in any condition to use social media.

Yes but the Facebook accounts soon become memories accounts I think at the request of family members

I have only a few accounts tied to my real-life identity, and I like it that way. No Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, and so forth.

Closing my Facebook account a couple of months in advance seems like a good idea. I have been tapering off of my usage of it already. Mostly, I do not want anyone to leave posts on it with the usual platitudes. Facebook makes insincerity easy. The scant handful of people who might actually give a damn might have to make the effort of looking.
