The odds of coming into existence are so unlikely. 50 yrs ago (20 yrs before birth) I wasn't even a speck . I and we are something that sprang from nothing.

I think the odds of coming into existence are only unlikely if you presuppose humans are special, you dont think about the odds of an insect or an animal coming to life do you? It just happens

Also, you dont sprang out of nothing, your parents had sex ant atoms were arranged in certain way to make for your existence, similarly they will arrange into other stuff when you die

Life is incredibly rare. Any type of life is pretty amazing. The odds of you become you are through the roof. Being born really is miraculous. But it's also completely insignificant since anything alive is in the same boat. So I guess you have a planet of incredible miracles that are pretty insignificant to each other.

There are 1000s of threads on this. When you die there are only two reasonable scenarios in my opinion. 1 (this is what I believe) you continue to live in the astral plane as pure consciousness. 2. You are just software created by your neural activity and when your body dies, you dissipate. There are many other theories like we being virtual characters in a computer program created by our ancestors, quantum suicide, but there's no evidence for anything outside of the first two theories I mentioned.

I would say there's no evidence for we being created by our brain either, just an assumption skeptics make and believe it like it's a undeniable fact. I think to really know something you have to experience it. And this is a suicide forum so eventually we will all find out what happens, or maybe not.

There's evidence for those theories?

If testimonial evidence qualifies for your idea of evidence, then yes. Like this for example
https://www.near-death.com/science/evidence/people-born-blind-can-see-during-nde.html
There has also been some real scientific experiments with people that have read code numbers while out of body, but they were not replicated

I don't count that as evidence.

We know nothing about the afterlife, probably never will. There most likely is nothing, we cease to exist, the end.

Doesn't matter, everything dies, even the greatest men that ever lived die and so do their children. Death is the greatest equalizer.

For me is good enough. Even if you guys are right and I'm just this piece of meat who cares, it would have happened anyway. Better to not delay the inevitable. For me is a win - win.

I don't understand why people believe these fictional articles. The fact that this website pretends to carry God's word while pushing some seminar tickets for $600 says a lot.

Yes, in certain cases the brain can be be sensitive to light while there is no conscious vision, but that doesn't mean that light is a glimpse of heaven.

Yeah because someone making money out of a phenomenon automatically disproves the authenticity of it, I see how you people reason here. Fuck this article, let's pretend this doesn't even exists and there was never a case of a blind person seeing in his nde and you still have countless verified testimonial evidence, miraculous nde healings which doctors said were impossible and they can't explain it, people reading numbers out of body, people seeing places and other people they didn't even know existed out of body and so on. The brain can be sensitive to light? yeah sure, that's why we evolved to have fucking eyes. We can magically see things without eyes that's why we have blind people. Some patients also report seeing colors that don't exist in this reality, they say this reality is like a black and white television compared to the after life. They're brain dead and their senses amplify and function even better than when they are healthy. What about this Mr Nobody? Is this also a lie and bullshit because it threatens your worldview?

Let's just agree to disagree then. Don't expect further replies from me.

Alright, being intrigued by the fact that these videos are made by "scientists", I open-mindedly did some digging.

Regarding the experiment in the first video - on page 7 of the research document, Dr Tanous (the man in the video) claims anyone can leave his body at will with few breaths. Won't comment further on that, I leave this up to you.

Regarding the second video - here is a report from a scientist who was observing some of the experiments conducted by the creators of that "astral projection" experiment. On the second page and second column he describes non-existant or anecdotal control techniques. And this is coming from a person who was there, in the lab.

I won't even go into discussing your reply to me (people say say say, no specific evidence).

Now I am not saying that astral projections are impossible, but I want to ask you - do you believe that they are real because you want to believe they are real or because you were convinced by specific studies/personal encounters?

I know you won't believe me because I'm just a random guy on the internet and if you did you would have serious issues, but I had an OOBE where I was in a hotel I didn't even know it existed and I guessed many things, (the name of the hotel, how it looked inside, even if there were some fluctuations). Then of course you search on the internet and see too much data that supports this to just dismiss it as lying or hallucinations.

Although I do not believe what you said (your sub-conscious could have easily picked up the information without your awareness), if this experience gives you faith and strength, then so be it. I do however recommend you to always consider such matters from an alternative point of view.

Maybe. I'll find out tomorrow if I'm right.
