"You have capacity" even though they've sectioned me 25 times?

"How can we keep you safe today?" … staying "safe" today, only prolongs the pain for another day.

What really angers you, with regards to these so called "professionals"?

When I've been at my most suicidal, when they ask me "but how do you wish your life to be?" They asked me that when I was suicidal and it made me furious and have panick attacks. Apparently not the best for me at least. All i could wish for was for me to be dead, and I had no interest or capabilities of thinking that life would even be possible

The euphemisms they use - 'will you be safe or are you thinking of harming yourself' when they mean 'kill yourself' - and the everpresent patronising royal 'we'. The infantilising language and attitude makes me want to slam their faces into a brick wall.

"This is a place for suicidals and drug addicts. They come here, get ice cream, get TV, whatever. If she wants to go home and eat bonbons, that's up to her." When asked why I didn't have therapy. Also, "You have to want to live."

"Don't you think that such a romantic vision of suicide is just a request for help?"... she told me that I just wanted a "Romantic Death", after I tried to drown to death in a pool...

Without doubt his words bothered me a lot. I don't know if she's ever experienced what it feels like to drown, but it's horrible. At night, alone, the ice water. I was desperate, I didn't want to be saved or a happy ending, I wanted to die.

It's also incredibly frustrating when they involve your loved ones... things like, "Do you really want to do that to your family?" As if the guilt I already feel wasn't enough.

"You can do this", when evidently I cannot.

Yeah, I hate the second one, too.

definitely agree plus the monotone robotic voice they use as they fill out paper work regarding how you've attempted or how you're planning to attempt followed up by the question "so what do you think of a safety plan?"

Good grief, the bloody safety plans are the worst. So ridiculous the way they're tossed around like some magic cure-all and first measure of response or 'treatment' or 'care'. A 'safety plan' is really just a legal nappy large enough to cover these incompetent fools' arses.

it's down right insulting to believe that a person in that amount of distress can all of a sudden change their mind about ending their life by filling out a useless piece of paper

Just reading through the replies and am reminded that they (like most people) just tend to impose their own ideas without ever actually listening or being open to learn anything new.
If they ask questions, they're just rhetorical ones that are prompting you to follow their script.

When I told her I was miserable because I didn't think I'd ever find a partner, she essentially said "Not with that attitude!" as if I just chose to be an ugly, weird, introverted dyke

This one just straight up pisses me off. She sounds like not only a shitty therapist, but a shitty person. I'm truly sorry you had to deal with that.

My favourite is when you are going out of your mind and they suggest "have a relaxing bath" or "make sure you have a good diet".
Totally good things to do, when you are just a little stressed. Not so helpful when you really have lost it.
I had to speak to one of these morons when I last attempted. The police phoned her and put me onto her. Even the police were in disbelief at how useless she was, I handed the phone back to them and said "this is a total waste of time". They got rid of the call straight after.

"Your pain has made you such an empathetic person", when I express that I dont see any purpose to continue living. As if, life is shitty and things aren't great for you, but at least you're really good at feeling other peoples pain.

Also had a therapist give me two pages worth of things I could be doing when I felt suicidal -- nice bath, eat a good meal, watch a movie. So invalidating.

Absolutely yes. Everything falls apart as soon as they ask, "who are your support people or those you can go to for help?"
Ummm, does my cat count lol.

Safety plans to me are more like fill in the blank mad libs, but aren't entertaining in the slightest.

Lately "I have someone you can talk to," "why do you think that is. Perhaps some unresolved trauma we can delve into slowly?"

I agree with the safety plans being complete and utter bullshit. It may work in the moment of a therapy/ Mental health setting but afterwards it's just a piece of paper.

Asking if I have a plan. And it's not the question, it's the dance we then have to go through. I say "no", she seems relieved, and we carry on. Of course I have a plan. I've had one since I was, what 15? The problem is her first allegiance is to the State, and not me, and so it means I can't trust. Sigh…

"You play the victim role here" after talking about childhood neglect.

"You should practice mindfulness twic a day" after telling I want to die and that I can't take it anymore.

"Well I don't see scars on your arms?" after admitting I was struggeling with self harm (the scars were obviously hidden behind clothes).

'you must be doing better because your self harm isn't that bad'

She had this idea that there was a hierarchy of self harm. Scratching didn't count, cutting was pretty bad, burning was worse.

'i didn't realise you were masking'

From the person who made my referral for an autism diagnosis.

And of course, not strictly a mental health professional, but when I was asked questions like:

'do you think what you were wearing could have led him on?'

By a 'specially trained' police officer in my interview following being raped.

"You have to want to live" is a great classic..
I'm trying but it's my fault for wanting to be cared for. In the end, I'm too greedy for more, more, more. It feels like my fault for not being able to avoid spiralling. It feels like I'm not trying hard enough.

gotta love their pathetic version of a safety plan.

Actually I don't know what anyone can do for me. Everyone is too busy for me.

"Did you get rid of the poison (SN)?"
"Yes (I lied, I kept it still)"

I don't trust people to truly care. All of them lied. If they betray me (again), SN and my plushies are my only refuge. I'll end my misery and tears for an eternal sleep - the permanent solution to the permanent problem (me).
