I've heard that it can be a pretty excruciating way to go if done improperly and you end up crushing your windpipe.
I got hit in the throat pretty badly once. It's definitely one of those uniquely terrible sensations like hitting your funny bone, getting electrocuted, or getting the wind knocked out of you. Cartilage getting crushed is a very big "ick" thing for me from a sensory standpoint, so I wouldn't ever utilize the method personally, though I wouldn't be opposed to a method that could obstruct blood flow without crunching up the trachea, like the night-night method.
