Same. Although I already had a gun and kept saying "no" every time they asked if I have a weapon in my home. Tricked them well enough to not even try to dig further. I hid it somewhere before they tried to take me in. Looked for it after I was released and surprisingly it was still there. Thought someone had found it after days of being in the hospital.
So that's a fuck you to this shit system that's supposedly trying to help us.

I also now have a debt from being check-in. Even though my insurance covered it, it's still significant. I'm not paying for shit.
Fuck the hospital as well for "trying to save me" while dropping a medical bill I never wanted in the first place.

Time for you to seek other methods because fuck this society.

In the US getting 5150'd bans you from purchasing firearms for 5 years. You can contest it during those 5 years in court if you want.

One of the reasons I'm on this site is because attempted suicide is a felony here. I remember going to crisis and they basically told me to grow the fuckup and "develop coping methods". I crashed my car a week later in a failed attempt.

I was in the psychward before, but for an Eating Disorder.. I would think this prob wouldn't prevent me from owning one right? Though, I also live in NYC so the fucking need for a permit/license is also there.

Thats my biggest fear. Last time i went they charged a fortune but the insurance paid it. However now i have no insurance, so if they catch me i would go to shit . I wonder if i am banned from firearms too. Last time i went was 2019. But i guess it depends on state laws too. Its so saddening

I'd just always assumed I was on a banned list of sorts, due to the nature of one of the forms in which, at intake to inpatient one-time, the woman there totally took advantage of me, and swindled me (or that's how I'd felt, afterwards..) when she handed me this form to sign, which she said that most everyone has been willing to agree on: & that was, as she'd said, "So if you get pulled over in a different state halfway across the country... that officer will already know that you've been here."

That must be really awful, it disgusts me how we exist in such an anti-suicide society where other people wish to so cruelly imprison us in this existence. Psych wards just sound like horrible places to me that only ever cause more suffering.

Yeah, I got put in a ward after making an attempt with the good old toaster in the bathtub back in 2018. I got verbally abused by a Doctor/Nurse. I befriended someone in there who had also made an attempt. But I never saw her again.

Phyc wards are just bussiness to profit off suicidal people and their insurance they don't actually give a shit if you kill yourself they just wanna run up a bag on you before you do kill yourself and the staff that work in these places are more mad then the patients they claim to help....its disgusting

I would say not all staff are bad but reality is the good ones left or are close bc they can't stand it
