Wellness check

I don't know what to do or where to ask this but I'm really scared my dad is going to commit suicide and I really can't lose him. He lives in a different state and I've been debating calling a welfare check but I don't know how to do that when the person lives hundreds of miles away. He won't respond to anything and I'm really scared, I'm 20 and I don't want to lose my dad. Any help is greatly appreciated <3

I only have one other family member on my dad's side and I don't have any contact with him, I've reached out to him but I haven't heard anything

I'd call the police department of the town your dad is located in. I had to do a wellness check for my oldest brother who lives in another town but the same state. He posted a depressing status on fb and Twitter, and he wasn't answering anyone. Turns out he was sleeping..
Do you have your dad's address?

You'll have to contact the sheriff's office in whatever county he currently lives in. They will be the one's providing the wellness check, usually with EMTs as well.

I could easily find his address in my text history with him, he was saying a lot of worrying things on the phone last night and has since stopped responding to anything, is there a certain amount of time I should wait?

I'd say it's better to call sooner than later. How long has it been since he stopped responding and when was the most recent text you sent him? Is there anything that your dad can be doing at this time like working, doctor appointment, etc.?

My dad is at work for 6 or 7 more hours and the last thing we talked about is how hard work has been and how much he hates it and that he's going to get fired almost certainly and started going down a hole of just spewing suicidal thoughts but I don't know what to do, I don't know if there's anything he can do

I'd call his office to confirm that he's there. Feeling worried about him after he said all those things is valid. Maybe encourage him to talk to a mental health professional and possibly seek a higher level of care. Let him know how much you love him and care about him, and that you want him to feel his best. Ultimately he has to make that decision for himself unless he's involuntarily admitted to the hospital. I'm sorry you're going through this

Im going to call his work here soon, I want him to know I care about him and everything I just don't know what to do I feel like a lost child. I just want my dad. I don't know what to do, I'm sorry for venting but calling his work is good idea. Thank you

It's a scary situation for sure, and believe me I feel the same way without my dad. He's currently in the hospital due to declining health, so I feel lost as well. No need to apologize at all! Take care of yourself and take deep breaths to ground yourself. Sending you hugs
