Way to “practice” drinking SN?

I saw mention on a years-old post that one can "practice" drinking SN by drinking a solution of baking soda and water. I'd never heard of this and there were no measurement details, but the claim was that it tastes and feels something similar.

Anybody have any leads on this or a similar idea? Something that won't land me in the hospital.

(Side note, I have a bottle of contrast I need to drink for a CT scan this weekend, they said it's super salty and chemical-ish, I'm mentally pretending this is a baby practice for SN )

Your options are to try a very diluted small amount of SN or what you said. Taking SN can still be dangerous and if it's super diluted you won't taste much anyway I assume. If you try with something that has similar taste I doubt it will help you, you don't know what it's like before you actually taste the SN. For me, if I manage to finally get SN, I'll just close my nose and drink it quickly, that seems like it would be effective. All the failures I've seen are either vomiting after you've already drank it or calling for help/being found. I assume you'll be taking antiemetics though because you seem prepared.

I'd say it's more than mildly unpleasant, but I guess different people have different reactions to salt. To put it in context, the black sea has a salinity of around 34%. When you drink SN, the concentration of salt dissolved in the water is around 25-50%, depending on how diluted you make it. Imagine yourself drinking a little cup of seawater.

man this is probably bad for your health besides the terrible stomach ache it must cause, it's simpler to have a lemonade without water just with lemon

Obviously, don't over do this. According to mayo clinic,

Adults and teenagers—One teaspoonful in a glass of water every four hours. Your doctor may change the dose if needed. However, the dose is usually not more than 4 teaspoonfuls a day.

I would probably stay under that limit, as for the mustard, usually one packet of mustard contains one teaspoon, so uh, don't dump the whole container in. I'm no doctor, but know that too much of anything can kill. Examples, carrot juice

Yup. For every method that can conceivably be practiced, it's recommended to practice. It helps overcome SI and the fear of the unknown.
