I am convinced there are many victims of bullies in this forum. Severe bullying can lead to suicides. I was bullied myself as a teenager. I think it is one cause why I had psychosis, have bipolar disorder and treatment severe suicidality.
The society is cruel to outcasts. And with mental problems you are an easy target. Due to domestic violence and abuse I started to have OCD in school. Many people mocked me. My mom fed me up till I was very obesed. Teenagers can be so cruel. All my bullies probably have great lives. I absolutey don't want any conncetion anymore with them. I feel ashamed about my life and innerly I am still scared they would laugh at me.

So many people have spit in my face. Also religious people. Yeah it is not unlikely that some of my bullies are today anti-choice. They don't even want that I have a peaceful and dignified death after they destroyed my soul.

I get why people are scared to open up at work about mental illness. These people are very easy targets. But when someone ctb they express condolences and say noone could have predicted it. When I told my dad that I want to apply for assisted suicide he said he will stop giving me money if i did that. This hurt a lot. He also said things like you are too smart for suicide. He is a good example how ignorant most normies are. He scapegoats other people for what they did to me.

This life is so cynical.

When it goes beyond bullying and turns into harassment and slander.. I feel your pain on dealing with issues since school aged days.

When you open up about your past you're putting yourself at risk for all sorts of things. It can be helpful or like you pointed out it makes you a target.

I agree. I know a lot of people say that bullies do what they do because they have shitty lives themselves but tbh they always seem so confident to me and they have friends and fit in. And somehow it's socially acceptable for them to bully, nobody does anything about it.

I'm sorry for what you went through. You don't deserve that. It's not fair.

I don't believe in Karma. There were so many rapists, murderers etc. who had great lives and their victims suffered/died painfully.

True, but what I noticed when a guy that first tried to bully me and then tried to befriend me is that although he wasn't as pathetic as me, he had an awful family situation. So I learned that bullies look for people even more miserable than them, and putting them down makes their situation feel less dire.

I noticed those that were really good looking and mentally balanced at school never attacked me, they were content with their lives. All the people that attacked me had a monkey on their shoulder.

Not my experience.
All types of people bullied me, including those who had no reason to be miserable themselves.
In fact, the better off they were, the more bold their bullying became-which made it all the more humiliating (publicly) for me.
Whereas those who were in a seemingly worse position (than the people I just spoke of) usually opted to bully via underhanded and passive aggressive/behind-the-back means.

I can relate to that. My bullies came from very rich families. They were very priviledged.

I agree with what you said, vulnerable people are like living dart boards for bullies.

Off topic, but I really enjoy each one of your threads. They always seem to bring up things that I never really thought about.

Bullying is socially acceptable because it enforces the social order of castigating people with undesirable traits (weirdos, outcasts, or otherwise different.) It also helps to form the herd/tribalistic mentality. By putting someone down they are reinforcing their own assumed superiority and demonstrating who is the in-group vs the out group. They don't do anything about it because they agree with the bullies and think whoever gets bullied deserved it for sticking out too much (or whatever the excuse maybe). This is one of the many repugnant things about human relations.

It seems odd that people put so little effort in trying to understand the reasons for someone behaving differently.

I think that is probably why.

There have absolutely without a shadow of a doubt been bullies here and some are still here and unbanned for some reason. Thankfully I have not seen a bullying case in a while.

Yeah why can't they pick on someone their own size? (ie the same level of vulnerability or whatever).

In my experience it seems that the bullies are not the ones with problems themselves. My worst enemy for example is quite good-looking and happily married. People I've met that have got mental health problems have never been unfriendly to me.
