Portable generator in a tent, with benzos to calm SI and to induce sleep. Is this viable? I posted about this on the bigger thread for CO methods but I don't know if anyone is checking that still. I don't have access to a car so a tent outdoors is as good as it gets unfortunately. Also does anyone know the procedure for when a body is found in a different country to where the person is from?

Might work. Better investigate the pros and cons more. Same rules would apply as using charcoal. Tent needs to be sealed well. It will be noisy. If in a diffetent country, you would need to leave something for authorities to use to identify you along with info on whom to contact. Consulate from your home country, if there is one, might need to get involved. Not sure who would bear the cost of returning your body to your home country, probably family. I guess it would depend, too, on the relationship between the two countries involved to some degree, anyway.

from what i read, the generator seems more reliable than charcoal. is that true? there were a lot of mentions of needing specific brands of charcoal and meters to measure the level of CO, but from my impression it seems like you can kind of just let any generator go in a sealed tent and it would hit the levels needed.

Even with a generator, how would you actually know the level of CO in a tent unless you measured it with a CO analyzer? You can't. You'd only be assuming and taking it on faith that the CO level is high enough. I don't know if charcoal is better or worse than a generator. CO production aside, I do know that internal combustion engines produce all kinds of other "nasties" in addition to the CO, other noxious substances that *could* contribute to the uncomfortableness of the "experience". I don't think you'd get all that with charcoal, since by the time you put them in (a tent), they would be burning red/white hot and producing very little, if any smoke (from impurities) yet producing huge amounts of colorless, odorless CO gas. So, in that respect, I think charcoal bests a generator hands down. Just a good quality, 100% carbon, lump charcoal is all that's needed.

think my concern is just that i can't really drop that much money on a CO meter based on the prices mentioned. so if a generator could be more reliable in terms of producing mass amounts of CO over a long period of time, that would be preferred. I plan on falling asleep with benzos and alc so the nastiness isn't as much of a concern i think

I know there's people who have had generators going indoors for days. They didn't die. Where did you get the idea that generators produce more CO than charcoal. I've never heard that before.

What do you mean by generator?

They produce a lot. They're carbureted and don't have catalytic converters. The people you've heard of must have been very lucky, or had a very leaky house.

Those talking about the cost of a meter..

Check out auction websites and websites that people sell their own stuff on but irl. (CL). A very popular social media app has a marketplace. I've seen some on places like this.

Yeah, I can understand about not wanting to drop $300 for an analyzer. Without one though, it's taking a big chance. I don't think generators are more reliable than charcoal. First, they're a mechanical device and are prone to failure at any time. And don't discount how noxious those fumes are going to be. Headache, burning eyes, choking. I'd hope that you wouldn't just start-up the generator, and then get right in the tent immediately, waiting on enough CO to accumulate to do the "job". Even with benzos, which I've never taken, I'd imagine that would be an uncomfortably long period of time to wait, having to breath all that nasty crap from the exhaust. I think charcoals are better in that regard because they aren't producing all that unwanted nasty crap, whenthey're burning correctly. Not saying that a generator can't work. I know it can and it has. Even has been a movie made about it, more than one, but the one that comes to mind is Conrad and Michelle. It really doesn't show many specifics but is based off a true story. You can find it on the Web.
