Pretty harsh to do that to his parent, but maybe they didn't get along and he wanted him to suffer the pain of finding him. Makes me wonder what the Dad thought he was building in there though!!!

there's a line at the end of my favourite film, Dead Man's Shoes, after he's killed all these people in revenge at some horrible shit they did, and he's found the last one he needs to kill, and he says to him 'LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO' - I suspect that's the statement a lot of people are making when they CTB, to people who have wronged them

In some ways I'm drawn to painful, bloody methods- but then again I've always been good at blood-letting. On the right drugs I imagine you could do it, but I wouldn't endorse drugs or this method since it's guaranteed to be painful and have lasting effects which will most likely be encountered since intervention before death would very likely happen. I'm sure there have been accidents where such has happened and failed attempts even. I just don't see such methods as reliable. Anyone who can bring themselves to try these types of methods are stronger than I could ever be.

Ah my apologies in my case I was referring to it as in cutting, I just have a funny way of writing since I guess I'm still used to not admitting things. I gave up on any method where blood loss would cause the end years ago so I forget my research in to it now but also the human body can be unfortunately resilient so it's just hard to say what will do one person in versus another. With drugs again I'd imagine you could have a peaceful passing, but then you wouldn't be in your right mind so it might be hard to go through with any plans properly.

I feel like dying of blood loss is more likely to be fatal in accidents than when intentional. I'm not sure dying of blood loss would ever truly be peaceful unless it was very fast, or the person was very numbed out.

Having had more experience than I would like with getting cut with sawblades (lifelong professional woodworker) I can tell you there isn't any pain at the time of the injury (there is later). Just a sort of curious buzzing feeling, you don't even realize what is going on until you you glance at the body part and see all the blood. Doing this intentionally is another matter, I don't think I could bring myself to do it.

But that can be done with a fast, jerky motion in the heat of the moment, like when I needed to avoid punishment 10 minutes before my parents found me. (Hey, a child's fear of punishment can sometimes be stronger than his/her SI.) One stab, and I'm bleeding to death fast. Sawing your head off with a manual saw, on the other hand, takes a drawn-out calculated motion. Not to mention an awkward angle to reach behind your head with that saw, if not sawing from the front. Very few people can pull that off, SI or no SI. Maybe it's possible to impale oneself on a moving rotary saw, and even that's a stretch.

Years ago a guy at another shop accidently cut his hand off with a radial arm saw, it's a saw with a circular blade that travels on an arm. With a large 16" one you could easily lay your head down on the table, pull on the saw and it would take your head clean off. With the 10" version I have in my shop there wouldn't be enough clearance for a head to pass under the motor, probably still kill you though.
