So being in the USA, I could easily acquire a 44 magnum, one of the worlds most powerful handguns, from a sporting goods store. I know that a 12 gauge shotgun is more effective and would be more ideal than any handgun even a 44. However, I have some issues with the shotgun.
The first issue with the shotgun is that I live with my parents and need to go over to the woods to do this which is several blocks away. I can't put a shotgun in my pocket. If someone sees me walking around with a shotgun in the middle of the night, they would be alarmed and probably call the police, possibly foiling my plan. If the police pull up on me while on my way to the woods, they'll probably tase and arrest me or take me to an asylum. Or if an ambulance reaches me shorty after I pull the trigger, there's a chance they could revive me. The last thing I want is to think I'm dead then suddenly wake up out of a coma months later in the hospital, blind, paralyzed from the waist down, and with a head that looks like a stepped on piece of meatloaf.
The other problem with the shotgun is, it's just so big! The barrel has so much length. I tried putting my dads shotgun in my mouth (which I'd never use to kill myself, I'd buy my own) and in that position it's very awkward and I can barely touch the trigger. Doesn't help that I have short arms.
With a 44 magnum I could put it in my pocket keeping it hidden, and reach the trigger easily. My concern with this is, do you really think it will do the trick? I'm gonna try to aim for my brain stem. I know that if I used the shotgun, even if I missed the stem, it would still likely blast the back of my head to pieces and I'd die from bleeding out within probably an hour at the most. Do you think the 44 would have a similar effect or no? Would I still bleed out pretty fast even if I missed the brain stem? Or could I possibly survive even without medical intervention? Also, could Survival instinct force me to scream at the top of my lungs for help? These woods are not that deep unfortunately. I live in a rough city so gunshots in the distance usually are nothing out of the ordinary but someone screaming like a demon for help could very well be heard.
Any answers to any of these questions and any further insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
