  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I'm going to put on a noose and jump off, but I'm not going to die from suffocation, from a broken neck. I seem to have found a suitable place where there is sufficient height and there are no people (an abandoned hospital in my city)
Question. How long should the rope be so that I broke my neck 100%, but my head didn't come off. I know that in the Middle Ages it was specially calculated that a person would break his neck, but his head would not come off. You should have some kind of table regarding the length of the rope. My weight is 74 kg.

Okay I'd advise against this, you're going to pull your own head off.

The long drop was perfected in the UK as a means of execution and when done well it's the quickest and most painless death going - the drop, the length of rope, the body weight etc were all calculated to ensure the neck snapped between the second and third vertebrae. This was tested at great length prior to execution with sandbags to ensure efficiency. There is no way anyone can replicate this other than by fluke, and even the right calculations need testing first - when done badly this led to decapitation or the agonising dangle at the end of a rope. Partial hanging is just as effective a method, carries less risk and is actually more peaceful.

Problem is there are different calculations, for example British and American ones are different so you just have to choose a length I suppose but it is probably quite hard to do that properly, suppose if your head does come off you have guaranteed it to work.

If I want to take my head off, though, are there remaining concerns against this method? I will have to do it in a place where I will likely be found soon (by adult strangers), so head off would make sure I do not get "rescued", plus I get to live my desire to be violent against myself.

Tables like that exist if you google them. In the 'How to kill a human being' BBC documentary they also show one and test it with dummies.

Partial dowsn't seem easy to perforn unless you know how to do it properly.
