Sooo... I've been exploring this forum, and the general impression that emerges, is that we're all permanently stuck in this nightmare...

ALL methods are crap. None actually work... And if they do, it's by chance.

All of them require advanced skills, or unobtainable substances, or non-human levels of determination, or the alignement of extremely random parameters... Oh, your head was slightly to the left when you tried that method? Too bad! You get to stay in this torture pit!

I came here looking for a way out of this shit hole. What I found was genuinely lovely characters, touching stories, and an authentic sense of care for one another. But in terms of actual actionable methods? Zero, zilch, nada...

If I had the kind of determination required to shoot myself in the head or to not move while choking on a rope, I'd be able to solve my problems and those of the entire world.

Looks like we're indestructible. Bad news.

I don't know... Maybe we should first acknowledge that what looks like a lively discussion on the surface, is actually a humdrum consisting of the same ten to fifteen topics, about ineffectual ways to CTB. Then we might, as a thinking collective, come up with radically new and effective, painless methods.

I understand your frustration, ctb is quite difficult to accomplish, especially when society hinders one's ability to do so.
However, with SN you just need to drink it, so it's quite possible indeed. Getting the determination to do so, that might be impossible depending on the person .

none of these methods available here are very reliable or very peaceful by far the most popular method is sn which come with the risk of failure 80 percent success rate also come along with risk of having a welfare check and it's hard to get hold of the substance

I really understand and I always suffer so much from how peaceful, guaranteed death is inaccessible for me with the suffering and torture of human existence seen as to force and prolong no matter what. I just wish I never suffered more than anything and I'd never wish for the suffering of existing, it's just so horrific to me how trying to cease existing can go wrong and lead to way worse suffering and torture as a result, to never exist ever again really is all I could hope for, I wish for no more suffering.

I think if you stick around long enough you'll start noticing how many people actually succeed… it might take more than a few months for most of us, I'd say. I do agree that almost every method available comes with some sort of pain/discomfort and difficulty, but that won't stop people from trying. And the more you're willing to try, the more likely it is that next time you won't survive. I lost one of my best friends irl after she attempted multiple times, and her method had one of the lowest success rates :(

I think dying is arguably as complicated as getting born. Every method is different, some rely on chance, some on technique and some on ability to endure crazy things. However ultimately, I don't think dimple death will ever be easy. Not a straightforward path... At all... Unfortunately...

It's almost impossible to kill someone ELSE. Now imagine how hard it is to do that to yourself

I've said before that the only reason I'm still here is it turns out I'm surprisingly hard to kill. Knowing that SN is out there but having no idea how to source it is turning into its own torture.

Well, it seems that for better than 700,000 people each year, suicide isn't all that impossible. And that number is very likely underrepresented.

Just start experimenting with major pain-play, consistent affirmations of non-self importance, and attempt a few more times and I guarantee you, your body is going to give up on this shitty reality the next time you attempt. Thats what Im doing.

What you are witnessing here is not that CTB is impossible, but that people are over thinking it way too much, myself included.

Take hanging for example. People all over the world have been hanging themselves successfully for centuries. People who aren't practicing or researching techniques and methods. Look at Robin Williams or Chris Cornell (singer from an old band called Soundgarden if you aren't aware). Cornell used an exercise band - but if you look at the comments in the hanging thread, it seems like there would be no way this could work (it is suggested in the handbook to use an elastic band as a tourniquet and most people claim it won't work). My wife, who never looked any of this stuff up, and knew nothing about carotid arteries, etc., used an extension cord and was successful.

That said, nothing is 100% foolproof, of course, but there is no question that a lot of people are over thinking this. Unfortunately, I myself live in my head just a little too much. My brain immediately starts going to "what if I fail? what if I end up paralyzed and even worse?" etc etc etc. Whereas my wife was much more impulsive. If we were trying to decide on a new car, she would just pick one and go for it - I would mull things over and over, essentially crippling myself from making a decision.

Paralysis by analysis is it's own hell, and judging by the fact that most people got here by researching methods, etc., I would guess that these forums are mostly filled with these types of people so you are getting a skewed perspective on things here.

Self preservation is strong, but at the end of the day our bodies are machines that are stupidly easy to break beyond repair

This is very interesting. To catch the bus is obviously not impossible for everyone. I've read about a lady who stabbed herself in the heart today. You read in the news people killing themselves all the time. It's not impossible for everyone.
However, it could be impossible for US. Maybe we just don't have what it takes to do it. Some people want to, and eventually do it. But maybe it is something we would not ever be able to do.
The interesting part is...what if you knew beforehand with a 100% of certainty that you won't be ever able to kill yourself? Wouldn't you TRY harder in life, even if only to get a bit more liveable life?
Does it make sense? My point is that if we are in the group of the people that just won't get through with it, it is a waste of time and energy that we could use to try to suffer a bit less.
