"It doesn't matter how hard we try or how much we want it, some stories just don't have a good ending."

Do you think that's about you? Your story will be the one without typical happy end where you overcame your troubles, find meaning in life e.t.c.?

I often feel like it's the case for me. So many things happen that should make everything better, but still I really often see myself ctb in the near future.

I think it depends on what you mean by a happy ending. For some people, maybe CTB isn't what they wanted, so it isn't happy for them, but for me, I can't imagine a better ending than that.

I mean traditional "happy ending" where you find meaning in your life, fight with your problems and die in peace at the age 80 or so

Definitely not what I would consider a happy ending, I can say that much, so hopefully I die much sooner. If I end up being unfortunate enough to still be here at the age of 80, I will be a very angry old man LOL.

And what is a "happy ending"?
Passing away peacefully on your death bed at the age of 100 surrounded by your children, grandchildren and grand-grandchildren?
Who believes fairy-tales like that anymore?

My family is a long line of unhappy endings. I want the cycle to finally, truly end with me. To me, ending the cycle of torment is a happy ending.

All endings would be a bore if they were the same.

I found meaning in my life and found a path to the life I always wanted. Then it was suddenly stripped away from me. So yeah, I believe that no matter what I did, that "happy ending" was always going to be elusive.

We all die in the end. Nobody gets out of here alive. There will be no happy-endings. It's just all a bunch of lies

It's probably not healthy or palatable but I'm pretty attached to my idea of a happy ending. If anything upset the precarious balance that allows me to sustain my belief in it I'd probably implode. I just can't handle anything else anymore.

I try my best to improve, to change etc ... but now I realise that, even with doing what I can, nothing really change. I accumulate lots of great experience and some really sad one, but at the end of the day, I am depressed, lonely and still sad. It won't be a happy ending but neither a bad one, because i choose it.

I believe that about my life. I tried so hard to make a happy life for myself. One where I could get married, have kids, and create a happy family. Where I could have a fulfilling career making a difference. But all of that hope is gone. I can't have that and I won't. My ending won't be happy. It will be dreadfully sad, but it has to be done.

I never could've imagined that my life would have such a cruel ending even in my most pessimistic years before all of this.

Same. I thought I would be traveling around and enjoying myself, not in constant pain struggling to get through each day.

Your unfortunate events happen in a series? Mine pile on several at once. Four major catastrophys at once while I'm bedridden.

Some might say it's about the journey and not the destination.
I think a happy journey would be a nice dream and this would make the ending infinity more palatable (even if that is an agonising illness or something) as you would have a lots of memories in which to find peace, comfort and light at a potentially dark time and this might eclipse the darkness.
For so many of us the journey is just a pile of rancid shit and that's why we just want that journey to end and honestly I feel this, the day to day trudge of being physically, mentally or emotionally ill is exhausting and makes death infinity lighter than that life.
