Yes, we've always had very strict weapon laws here, even carrying basic self-defense items like pepper spray, a pocket knife, or even a screwdriver is illegal. Technically, if someone breaks into my home or attacks me on the street and I injure or kill them while defending myself, I could still end up in jail. It feels ironic, because crime rates have been rising, and people with bad intentions often manage to get weapons illegally anyway. So sometimes it really makes me wonder who these laws actually protect: ordinary people trying to stay safe, or the criminals who ignore the rules regardless.

My state is really lax on gun ownership. Felons and crazy people aren't supposed to own them. At least I'm not a felon. And I've never been committed. When I was at my worst nobody gave a shit about me, certainly not enough to fill out the paperwork.

I couldn't even guess because we have literally had guns in civilian hands from the beginnings. I understand that there is a difference in the guns themselves. Guns from the intercity are considered throw away guns, they are not very good but can kill someone else. They are also relatively cheap to downright cheap. These guns are also bought by those that never intend to shoot them. Many people buy them for home defense.

You could buy 4 or 5 ar15's for the price of my m4 even though they are close to the same gun. Mine is an amazing gun and I wouldn't trade it for any ar15. A person is not going to try to sell a gun like mine on the black market, it would cost to much. So if one is on the market it most likely is stolen.

My handguns are both over $600 each. There are decent handguns for a third or less each. Hell I've seen Ok handguns for less than $100. Shot it once or twice and toss it in a lake.
