I am from Europe and I am also not happy about these results. Minority rights are one problem, but it is also things like support for Ukraine or general state of democracy in the US, since US has always been seen as a big part of free and democratic world.

However, if I should find something positive people could use to cope with this situation...Republicans already had all three, the White House, the Senate, and the House for the first two years after Trump won in 2016, and the only major thing they did was to pass tax cuts for the rich. I think that the party will make, if anything, bad decisions on economy, or let's say, healthcare, and pay the price for it during the next midterms. Then the Senate might flip and Trump will not be able to do whatever he wants anymore. The midterms usually do not go very well for the party in power, and that is what happened in 2018 as well.

Also, it is not like Republicans have huge majority in the Senate, for example. When it really comes to making specific decisions, some of the Senators might revolt because the decisions would prove to be hugely unpopular. I would still like to see how things go in 2025.

I think just the basics can help now...be around friends a lot and let some time pass (a few days). Also, if you yourself are not an American, Trump's policies will likely not affect you, (even though it depends from what region of the world you are, like the Middle East and such).

I hear you and I see you. I don't understand how so many people can have that level of hate within them. I will never understand. I truly hope you find peace and comfort.

Same here. It was so devastating to see humanity go down this path, and it crushed my faith in us. I'm not american, and the economics might be the only things changing for my country, but it makes me believe that we will always go down a path of bad decisions again and again until we destroy ourselves somehow, someway. I also know some lgbtq people in the US, (although it's been a while since I've been in contact with them), and made me so sick seeing millions vote away the rights, safety and freedom of them in the hopes of gas prices lowering by a couple of cent, which is ironic, as Trump has a worse economic record than a gambling addicted grandparent.

As of getting rid of the news, maybe disable the apps providing you with notifications, if that is possible. Then wait some days until the worst has passed.

Yeah me too, I was totally devastated. They kept saying it was close but I was thinking how could anybody vote for this guy? So I'm going through the four or five stages of grief, as it applies in this case. I think I'm approaching the point where I'm going to try and sit back and view this very interesting period in American history as a spectator. Kind of like a Tom Clancy novel but in real life. I know so much is at stake, so this won't be easy, but that's what I'm going to try to do. Or if that fails, leave the country for a while.

I get the sense people let their expectations run wild which made the hit of having them quashed that much more powerful.

Gotta minimize them to protect your mind.
As for the news, maybe taking a break from screens would hit the spot.
