  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

That person is so incredibly fortunate to be free from this awful world. I really do see voluntarily leaving this world as being something so admirable, I envy those who are gone so much.

It's always tragic when someone's life brings them to this. I hope he's at peace now.

Not that we can ever truly know someone's mind. Perhaps it was a sudden fit of depression that lead to this. Still- I'm always slightly bemused when the press react to a suicide. When they seem amazed that a person was functioning perfectly normally- even possitively before an attempt. I can't speak for this poor guy but people can live with ideation for years- decades. They've likely be doing the day to day shit all this time alongside these thoughts. It doesn't seem uncommon for people to actually be more positive leading up to an attempt. (No wonder- they're counting down the hours until they leave.)

Suppose it might seem odd that people make plans for the future during that time. Still, I wonder how much of that is just 'business as usual' to throw people off the scent. Plus- if it's a background thought and you have your method in place- I suppose the act itself can be more spontaneous (although- by no means impulsive- the decision has been made- it's just the 'when' you're waiting for.) So- you do just carry on with life- until you don't.

Like I say- no disrespect meant towards this gentleman. I don't know about his situation. It's just that usual press response though: longterm mental illness, seemed to be getting better, gave no signs of what they were going to do= must be an impulsive act in a moment of crisis. (Possibly the case here but I doubt it is every time.)
