Discussion (UK) Is Buccostem okay as a substitute for meto?

Buccostem is available OTC and was wondering if it works just as well as meto, there is an online pharmacy that does meto but it's quite expensive
Does anyone know if Buccostem will be okay?

Yes, it has higher D2 receptor affinity than metoclopramide but a higher risk of causing side effects.

This means it's slightly more effective, however it doesn't have the speeding up of gastric emptying properties that metoclopramide has which is why meto is the best overall (this was in a MAID pdf file I read recently discussing various anti emetics for euthanasia purposes)

Its the same drug. That's the chemical name, buccastem is just a brand name for it.

Also just as an extra note I would only advise taking 2x the recommended dose for a stat dose of it as its stronger. Not worth risking extra side effects
