Type of rope

I was hoping to go out with SN but it seems to be impossible to get in Canada now, so I've been looking into hanging. Is there any particular type of rope i should be getting? I feel like belt is too risky... Is there a best thickness? I saw someone saw 5/8

I think I've seen most people recommending Nylon rope.

There are a lot of factors involved with a rope's strength beyond just diameter. Materials and intended use (as manufactured) make the most impact. you need at least a 8 diameter to 12mm diameter, just read the rope weight strengh in kg

I don't want it to leave marks if I fail. What do I do. Do put cloth around my neck.
