I can believe I have to ask on a forum how to tie my own noose, but I'm struggling here. This I believe is a slip knot. I've actually nowhere to test it on in my house, was going to use the wardrobe bar but I don't think it will work. My problem is when I put it around my neck and pull it as tight as it will go, it doesn't even feel tight. I don't understand how this will kill me.

A running noose (slipknot, etc.) will do the same thing a choke in MMA will, it will cut off the blood supply to the brain and render you unconscious. In mma, they let go once the person 'taps' or passes out, a noose doesn't let go so your brain is left without blood flow and you die. If you are found within 20 mins there's a chance you could live with brain damage.

Try to use the noose on your arm and see if it can tighten around it. That's a pretty thick rope not sure how it will work.

Do you think the problem is my rope is too thick? I paid £60 for this, I bought it as its like what they us in capital punishment hangings, so I thought it would be the best option...now I'm stuck & stressed out.

Capital punishment is a long drop hanging where you drop a calculated distance from a trapdoor so you break your neck and die relatively instantly. Is that what your doing? It could work for partial or short drop as well, just not sure how well, I don't have experience with it.

Short drop. I'm doing it from a tree, taking a stool or chair or something to jump off/kick. I thought it would need to be thick to hold my weight. I weight about 170-175 pounds.

I think it would work fine for short drop.

If you tied a hangmans noose, then it would get tight enough :)

I've tried hangmans noose. It's pretty hard to figure out how to tie.

Pretty sure the hangman's noose is exclusively for long drop (ie. breaking the neck). I'd stick with the slipknot.

I did already...I still can't manage the hangmans noose for some reason.

So, do you think this slip knot will work with the method I described? I'm just confused why it doesn't feel tight enough.

It's gotta be tight. Idk, man. Short drop, ie. the standard full suspension works the same way partial does, it's just with more weight on the rope (feet in the air). I've seen videos with full suspension working without a noose and just a simple loop but don't think it's ideal.

Maybe the rope material isn't smoothe enough to slide easily. I read on 8ch threads that static climbing rope was preferred for full or short drop suspension. That's what I have and it does seem to slide better. I also had trouble tying the knots. 8ch also suggested doing the slip knot with 2 or 3 loops but I could only figure out how to do 1

Just Google 8ch.net suicide. There are so many topics about rope and hanging. I can't remember which one I saw it on but you should be able to find it. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Slipknot video from YouTube.
I would like to know if this would get the job done also.

I've watched many of the videos on YouTube, they all use thin rope. None of which are guaranteed to hold ones weight when hanging from a tree. It's harder to tie the thicker ropes. Which ultimately is the problem I'm having. Just need to keep practicing though, I'll get there.

I've seen a lot of videos and pictures where people are hanging with very light rope and silk scarfs ect . Don't think the rope
needs to be too thick....Would be best to test the weight on it somehow.
