TV box sets help me escape reality

I find I retreat especially when in a bout of depression to binge watching TV box sets. Have currently over 70 shoes on rotation. Helps me take my mind of reality and thoughts of CTB!

Boxes are lovely objects. Old ones, softened by moisture and time, with flaky paper on them and yellowed glue stains. Or new ones, hard, still fresh with the smell of factory paper. You lift the lid, carefully, and who knows what you may find inside: a long-lost treasure trove, or maybe just a receipt from yesterday's shopping.

Decided stay in bed all day doing some easy on the brain binge watching. Star Wars Rebels. If only one could turn the lights out by will power - go to sleep and not awaken again.

Sorry to hear about recieving your job dismissal. I was dismissed from two jobs for not turning in aswell. Hope you're feeling a bit better now. I tend to binge on old comedies like Last of the Summer Wine etc.

When I'm not online,or asleep,I just binge watch movies and shows on Netflix.
I chose Netflix because there are no adverts. I once told my gran "Would you invite a total stranger to stand in the corner of your living room and tell you what you need to buy?". That's what advertising is.

9 for the Wire, huh? Never seen it, but I've wanted to for years. I would give Buffy/Angel a 7, but only for the nostalgia and better moments in those shows (they definitely weren't flawless)...

I say movies and TV shows is like music - everyone has there own unique individual taste. No two people will ever be the same but if you find someone with similar interests or taste or learn a person's grading you can find shows based on them you may well enjoy you never thought to try or knew about prior. I only heard of and watched Banshee due to a manager at my ex work telling me about it - his words were I've never seen so much violence and sex in a show. That made me take a looksee.

Firefly well I'm notoriously tight with my grades most shows will rate 4-6 with me so a 4 does not mean bad just for me wasn't special. Just as it says in the key I made up 'Worth Watching'. There loads of shows I have on the go but won't rate till finished but can still give heads up. If people tell me the genre or things they are interested in I can make suggestions.

I myself like WWII, Sci-Fi and crime dramas. My reviews in my FB groups give far more detail about what I thought of a series.

One of my mates gave up with 'The Wire' said it was boring, whereas for me I was hooked a few episodes in. I would say it's more for thinkers. You need to be on it.. I really loved how the show seems to follow equally the criminals and the police and there's good and bad on both sides. It does not favour one over the other. The plot arcs are great. Series 1 - 4 are top notch, 5 is far weaker but needs doing to finish it off and tie things up.

I say movies and TV shows is like music - everyone has there own unique individual taste. No two people will ever be the same but if you find someone with similar interests or taste or learn a person's grading you can find shows based on them you may well enjoy you never thought to try or knew about prior. I only heard of and watched Banshee due to a manager at my ex work telling me about it - his words were I've never seen so much violence and sex in a show. That made me take a looksee.

Firefly well I'm notoriously tight with my grades most shows will rate 4-6 with me so a 4 does not mean bad just for me wasn't special. Just as it says in the key I made up 'Worth Watching'. There loads of shows I have on the go but won't rate till finished but can still give heads up. If people tell me the genre or things they are interested in I can make suggestions.

I myself like WWII, Sci-Fi and crime dramas. My reviews in my FB groups give far more detail about what I thought of a series.

One of my mates gave up with 'The Wire' said it was boring, whereas for me I was hooked a few episodes in. I would say it's more for thinkers. You need to be on it.. I really loved how the show seems to follow equally the criminals and the police and there's good and bad on both sides. It does not favour one over the other. The plot arcs are great. Series 1 - 4 are top notch, 5 is far weaker but needs doing to finish it off and tie things up.

No but its on the BBC iPlayer here so I can any time. I really liked S1, I felt S2 was not as good and not sure where it can go now tbh. I'll get to it (S3) in my general rotation of shows.

Yeah I felt the same about S1 and S2. Tbh without spoiling anything 2 eps in to S3 it's kind of directionless. I still like it though.

I relate to this so hard. Even more so during lockdown, I'm finding it so hard to find a new movie or show that keeps my interest more than a couple minutes. I just rewatch the same things over and over because they're trusty and reliable and I know they'll give me that feeling that lets me escape reality!

I guess mostly comedy! But I find I don't often find the most popular funny shows that funny. The Office for example. It seems like a show I would love but I cannot get into it!
But then like The IT Crowd is super popular and I could watch that over and over. I am tough to please with shows! Haha

We seem to be a serious minority in this, but I had the same "eh" reaction to Firefly. In fact, I didn't even get through the whole series! I gave up after four or five episodes. Everyone else I know who's watched it raves about it, but it just didn't do it for me.

I have a lot of television series on hand as well (they can be quite helpful for.....coping), but I am STRUGGLING to get into anything, it's ridiculous.
