I really want to go using an exit bag. For the gas, to make sure it isn't screwed with I was going to buy it from a welding place. I'm in the USA. Do I need any special license or anything to get it?
I guess the only type of gas I have a choice of is Argon. What is the amount needed/smallest I can buy to do the job? What is the cost of something like this? How hard is it to find/get? Physically how small is the tank and how much does it weigh?

I'm still trying to find the other parts, but this is the biggest.

I bought a tank for £150 that weighed about 10kg and was about 70cm high. Didn't need a license or anything in the UK, but they did ask what I was gonna use it for, obviously I said welding

No, in fact you can order it on-line and have it shipped to your house.

I would recommend getting Nitrogen instead of Argon.

At least 250 L, but it's better to get more to have a bigger safety margin and spare gas for tests. 1000L (5L water volume at 200bar) cylinders are still small and easily manageable.

That's not too bad ($180, a little over 22 LB, a little over 2 feet).
How did you figure that is enough? Is it just enough or will it last a mess up or 2.

Also, what did you do for a bag/mask. I was thinking about a scuba mask, but I haven't looked too deep into that. I figured the gas was going to be the hardest part.

Thanks. I honestly don't know hardly anything about welding. I know they have to have pure gas or their system can literally blow up. A quick search only showed CO2 and Argon as welding gas, but again I don't know enough about it so IDK if there is other gasses.
Is nitrogen easy to get? How much would that cost?

Physically how big and heavy is that?

You can also get an EEBD Hood for about $200

The exit bag with argon setup failed for me for some odd reason I would recommend getting a hood/helmet instead if you have the financial means for it as it's way easier and reliable. Argon should be fine if you are gonna use a hood but if doing an exit bag try to get nitrogen.

I can't remember how I worked it out to be honest, but I know I decided to play it safe rather than sorry.

I just made a bag out of a turkey roasting bag if I remember correctly, used gaffer tape to strengthen where the tube went in

Why is argon okay with the hood but not the bag?

Do you think Argon would be okay if you're wearing a an EEBD hood? Also, increasing the flow rate?
