So MAGA is in favor of soccer? I actually thought Republicans considered soccer gay and American football as the real thing. There was a US sitcom where the protagonist an NFL fan had the opinion soccer was gay. Trump wants that soccer is now called football. I think Brits will agree with that take. And as a consequence the player isn't suspended anymore. My personal hope is. The player will now be a decisive player in the next games and win the next victories for the US. At first this will look like a big W for Trump. But actually the collateral damage in such a scenario will be way bigger. There could be boycotts due to this scandal. Instead if the US team loses the next game no one will remember this insane action.
Personally, I hope the US will be in the finales. Maybe against Spain. Sadly not Denmark or Iran. But Trump could just pressure the government of Spain to impose tariffs in case Spain wins the match. And the Spain government will pressure the national trainer to encourage the players to lose the game. This would perfectly fufilll the real purpose of sports.
