Recently I told someone online about being suicidal because they asked. Their response was telling me I would be murdering them because if I do it they will take their life. So although they aren't on this forum this is what I want to say.
I don't think it's fair to use my suicidality against me by threatening to harm yourself in response. My suicidal thoughts and behaviors are not based on anyone else's actions, and I cannot be responsible for your life or death. It feels vindictive to suggest that you would only do this because of me. Death is a natural part of life and while suicide is a complex issue, it shouldn't be used as a tool for guilt. A suicidal person will still be suicidal or attempt to take their life regardless of potential consequences, and putting your life in their hands is a dangerous game, and likely wont get you the outcome you're hoping for. You also aren't responsible for preventing my suicide, as my actions aren't based on anything but myself. Saying I would be murdering you by ctb doesn't help in anyway and will likely lead to me to distancing myself from you.
