A couple of years back (summer time) I was planning on going to the local woods with a bottle of whisky (with coke) and a rope. I was thinking of attaching the rope to a tall tree, climbing to the top and you know the rest. This obviously never happened, though, but it was a nice idea.

Probably the handrail of the stairs. Could attach the rope to either the top or bottom of the handrail Only necessary to step of the step I am on and.....

A tree branch. So scared of messing up again though. Awful predicament to be in.

Closet rod that hangs clothes, probably the only place I can really do it now. Other things like clothes hooks aren't really strong enough I think, and I struggle to see how doing it from a doorknob is at all possible. I've already tested the rod and it holds my weight fine but still have to be careful because it has snapped for some people.

Tying the rope down to one side of the door (attach to handle) then putting it over the top of the door and have the end of the noose on the other side and close the door tight. I've read people doing it this way in the past so I will most likely use this if I can. There are also solid metal rails/handles attached to the wall in the bathroom so that can be another option. Some rooms in the hotel also have bunk beds, so if I'm unable to use the first two options, I can always attach the rope to the metal frame on the bunk bed. It looks solid enough. I would prefer to do it in the bathroom though.

If I hang the rope will attach to doorknob and rope over the top of the door. If I end up doing it in the woods, then a tree branch.

I'm also thinking of using the hanger in my bedroom closet as the anchor point but worried that it might not hold my weight.

Yes, I'm worried about my closet rod snapping too.
