It is also my preferred method.
For me the spot is pretty high up above the adams apple. If you are doing it right it should be almost painless and the vision begins to fade really fast. Of course you have to hit both sides pretty well for it to work. To make this easier I use the length of my finger as much as possible without touching the windpipe.
Of course you have to try around a little bit.
I hope you will find peace whatever you choose to do.
