Hi all, I am planning to ctb toward the end of May. I'd like to send myself off not completely miserably without anything for anyone to clean up.

It's kind of embarrassing but this is my bedroom. Hopefully nothing scandalous is pictured. My whole apartment is pretty messy. My room is the worst by far, even this is after quite a bit of cleaning, so I think if I can tackle this then the rest will be more than doable. I was rearranging things until I gave up, which is why my desk has gone no contact with its chair haha

I'd like to get a mat for meditation in that space across from my bed. & I'd like to give away or sell most of my clothes. Does anyone have any advice for getting all this junk sorted?

First off I reccomend split your room into sections to make things easier e.g bed, shelf, chair, cupboard

Then start by placing any clothes into a box to give/sell, alongside anything else you wanna give/sell in each section

Then hoover your room and clean any surfaces with antibacterial spray and organise any miscellaneous items so you have room for your mat

i had quite similar, just stuff all across couldn't see floor even, and not wanting to leave that mess for my housemates to have to clean when i'm gone. my housemates did end up seeing my room though so i had people help me a few times which has some good parts, it goes faster, but it also felt very shameful and embarrassing for them to see so i dont know if i reccomend trying to get help with it or not. they helped me clean two days but it was still really messy and i did thte rest myself. what i did what i reccomend is maybe doing it in very small bits. so it feels less overwhelming. just fill up one garbage bag for one day or something (or one box of things to keep or donate or whatever). it can be a very small amount per day, less then you think you can do, because if you try and do as much as you can everyday its just overwhelming and exhausting. make the minimum small and you can always do more or not per day based on how you feel

Get a few of those giant garbage bags (approx. 30L or more) and sort things roughly (e.g. clothes into one, books into another, actual rubbish into yet another, etc.). Then your room looks less cluttered and after taking a break you can sort things out further.

I'd recommend starting with the trash. Get big bin bags, and depending on your motivation and or ecological care, sort out everything that goes to recycling into one bag, then everything else into another.
Throw out the bags.
Get another bag and leave it to the side incase you find hidden trash.
Then take one variety of things to organise at a time, for example clothes, paperwork, hobby materials, whatever.
Don't hesitate to take it day by day, don't feel discouraged if you don't do everything straight away.
Don't hesitate to use gloves and such if you are sensitive to feeling dirty.
Listen to a podcast or some good upbeat music as you go, it helps distract.
One everything is clearer, you can start wiping down surfaces and such. Do the floor last.
Good luck, it can be embarrassing and shameful but in the end it's truly worth it when everything is clean.

The only thing that can get me productive is by taking psych meds.
