Oh, god, that's not pleasant at all. Try and get all the assistance you can get. Start off with a homeless shelter.

I would immediately be looking for somewhere or someone to stay with. However, u gotta be careful that it is not an exploitative situation. Some people will abuse their power over u if they let u stay with them. I wouldn't go to homeless shelter. I just hear awful things about those. Do u have friends?

Hope your not homeless soon. This life really does suck. As if it's not bad enough being suicidal.

If you have a car then it's bearable. I was homeless for a month with a car, i was lucky i managed to go to nature spots so it was like camping until i found my old boss that was kind enough to host me in a small mobil home.

If you have to live in the streets it will be rough, I think it'd be a better idea to go to a small city with countryside around, there's less crimes.
For food you can do dumpster diving, locate all the supermarket, try to find the the timing at which they let the trashcan out. You might have to wait for few hours on several days to find it. But once you have found out the timing usually they don't change it so you have secured a spot to find food for free. (i've done that since 3years and i'm still here, you just have to be careful for which food to choose)

If you have enough money, buy a tent and find a safe spot (that's why i suggest countryside) you can find spots near cities where you won't be bothered usually.
Also get a knife in case.

But the best solution if you have friends/families/ex : call them and ask for a place... No need to be too proud when you're in the shit.

Emergency Food Stamps.
If you're not working while you're homeless you can go in and get them the same day. Tell them you're homeless. Helps a ton.

Any chance to crash with family or friends should be taken if at all possible. People do get attacked while sleeping outside, then anything can happen- it's so high risk. ANy friend or family member that will let you crahs on a couch or even the floor is much better if they is any way to get this.

Do u have any family members or relatives that can help you. Perhaps not permantly as it scares them. U can try 3months living here and 3 months living else where. Until you find a job, theres a movie call pursuit of happiness based on a true story where the homeless stay in the toliet with his kid.maybe you should watch that.

Spreading fear doesn't help. That does happen but highly doubt it. It's never happened to me. That's why you use intuition/logic to find a good spot.

This is about spreadjng fear, it's about knowing the risks of the situtaion- thyere are stories like this in the news all the time- so it is best if at all possible to see if anyone will let you crash for a while until you can get the finances straightened out. If that ends up beig your only alternative then you do what you have to do.

Yes, but when you are sleeping outside you are extremely vulnerable and defenseless for so many hours every day, plus many homjeless people are very mentall ill, so this puts a homeless person at much higher risk than a person who is sleeping inside.

Why would people attack a homeless person.
Some people are angry at the world, they hate everyone because their life has gotten so bad and the homeless are the easy targets. Often it is other homeless people who wander around all day so they learn the spots where other people are. That's one reason but I've heard of others in different articles.

Never heard of skinheads setting them on fire or stabbing them and recording it? I mean, the OP probably doesn't live in Russia, but a homeless person is the most vulnerable target for psychos, along with prostitutes. There is clearly a higher risk of being attacked, robbed, etc.

It's just uncommon, I don't want to scare the OP either. Be vigilant, that's all.

I've been homeless for years on end. I know what goes on. You're right. I've never had any issues. Maybe in New Orleans once or twice. Nothing serious.

Try to get someplace warm, like southern Florida. If you can get to Miami or Key West, you'll be fine. You won't freeze and all the tourists will give you food they can't finish. I've been to Key West a lot, and I swear I've seen the same homeless people for years on end. They look fine, relatively clean, and definitely not starving. Also, if you're near a beach, you can use the public showers to bathe.

But, please try to stay off the streets if possible. Wish you all the best.

If possible a cheap 24/7 gym membership was a godsend for me when I was homeless. A safe place to be inside. Showers, massage chairs etc. They even had food a couple times a week for visitors.

In the USA we have very dysfunctional people. In certain large cities controlled by certain political groups, dysfunction is on overdrive.

It was much worse in the 90s but it is still there

We have dysfunction in rural areas too but few homeless live there as it's too hard to survive

Well, I guess I could ask why homeless people attack and kill non-homeless people. Plenty of news articles on that lately.

The vast majority of attacks on homeless people are by other homeless people.

Keep your atm card so you can sleep in the vestibule.

Don't be afraid to ask small businesses if they have any small jobs you can do in exchange for a snack. One gentleman in our neighborhood swept the sidewalks of local businesses and they helped keep him fed. He didn't get fat, but he didn't starve. We all knew him and looked out for him.

Be nice to the people who live and work in the area where you are sleeping/spending time. They will be willing to help you more once they know you that are not a threat, just down on your luck.

Visit your local library: they are warm in winter, cool in summer and free. Read, read, read. Do not use the bathrooms for daily grooming or cleaning up - this is one of the few things that will get you asked to leave.

Do not be afraid to accept help as long as it does not involve getting in a vehicle.

24hr mcdonalds will sometimes let you stay in there all night if you don't cause a fuss.
When I became homeless I got lucky, I literally googled 'homeless in (my area)' and managed to get in contact with a hostel. It can also depend on how old you are. I think it's easier to find somewhere if you're under 25 unfortunately, or if you're classed as vulnerable.
Hostels aren't great but some of them have connections to semi independent houses or whatever. I'm currently in a shared house that has staff 3 days a week.

Been there at 20 years of age. Got emergency food stamps and lived behind a closed video store for months. It really sucks and I'm sorry that you are going to be without a home as it's tough as nails both emotionally and physically.

Start looking for solutions now. Crash with someone or contact a shelter and explain your situation.
