  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

I have been planning for awhile. I have everything I need for SN, but for some reason I have this need for the date to mean something or have some specific "look" to it. I have no idea why, but I think 111222 (11/12/22) will be my date. Am I crazy (that's rhetorical) or does anyone else think like this? Will you (if and when) ctb on a specific date or just whenever it happens? Curious how anyone else chooses a date, if at all. xoxo

After my last failure I'm just waiting for the morning feeling like I'm ok to try again, due dates makes me nervous

I get that. I've had at least four "dates" set over the past two years but a myriad of things have popped up that have kept me here until now.

I wouldn't choose a date like that. I'd have trouble picking and sticking to a date, for it to work for me I think it'll need to be impulsive. When things do go wrong, I won't have long enough to pick a date

Not a good idea to ctb impulsively. Increases the chances of failure.

For me, I'm just waiting to get my AE which should be here within a month if it gets here. If it takes too long or doesn't arrive, I'll forgo it and do it anyway on a day I can. I would have already did what I needed to do for my loved ones by then.

I understand the need for a date though. It provides structure and organization to such a life-changing (literally) decision. It's more set in stone if you have a specific time rather than just doing it when you are "ready". It affirms you will be committed that specific day. You can mentally work up to that day within a time frame you allot to yourself. That's perhaps why you feel the need for a specific date. It could be a subconscious thing. I'm just assuming though.

Only the date is impulsive :) I've technically been preparing for 20 years. Certainly a few years. I've been very methodical with my attempts over the last 3 years since I found this site

Whenever you decide to (that is you are 100% sure), I hope it works out for you in your next attempt. I'm sorry you've been suffering for that long.

Personally I would see it as being preferable to leave when the time feels right rather than setting a date far in advance. The problem with setting dates is that there is the chance of something getting in the way of our plans as after all life is unpredictable and uncertain. But after all, it's a personal thing deciding whether to set a date or not.
