A week ago I tried partial hanging. I passed out for a short period but my body got myself back up when I was passed out.
I had no padding in the noose, so my neck was very bruised on the right. That's almost cleared up now, but I've had a painful throat ever since I attempted. It hurts when I swallow, not as much as when it first happened, but still there.

Just wondering if anyone knows what damage I did? And is it likely to be permenant?

from partial it is really hard (if not impossible) to get long lasting physical problems, besides some brain damage do to lack of oxygen, it is highly unlikely what you will get long lasting damage to your throat or neck

That's good to hear. Probably just bruising causing it still.

How did you wake up? No point trying again until you find out why. It shouldn't happen, although there are some personal reports on it happening.

The bruising shouldn't be of any issue, how you escaped brain damage is more curious. If you try again perhaps put on a timer to see how long your out if you happen to wake up again.

My technique when I tried it was to bend down, hyperventilate, stand upright and use both hands to squeeze each side of my neck so I went unconscious, and when I could feel myself blacking out, I went down on my knees.

Pretty sure because of the position I was in on my knees is why I came back around. My body was able to easily get me in a position where I could try breathe again. I don't think I was out for very long at all, I'm hesitant to even say minutes. I think you only risk serious brain damage after about 10 minutes of being out.

Lucky enough to only have bruising and back pain, and I think I may only need to change the position that I fall in. I did think about a timer, but I think I procrastinate a little too much from hitting "start" to actually doing it, so might not be too reliable.

Yeah, the fear of failing is very much there, I hate it. It was a terrible feeling waking up each time. Luckilynwut minimal damage though.

Ouch, I'm sorry that your neck isn't doing great, that sounds like a very intense surgery. ❤️

The first time I practiced, I didn't pad my neck at all and my throat hurt even after my neck looked better, but the discomfort progressively got better, until it felt entirely healed. It just took a few weeks.
