Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I saw this on instagram and it got me thinking.
Would you call someone depressed sick? Is that a proper word for it?
Just wondering.

No, I would not call them sick because it's an identity.

I think depression is a sickness of spirit, thoughts, and emotions. I would say someone has depression, or is impacted by such a condition.

I wish English were like Spanish. Spanish has two versions of the verb to be -- estar and ser. I would not tell you, "Eres enferma," that would be calling you a sick person. I would say, "Estás enferma," it is conditional and not representative of who you are. Spanish does the same for all conditions -- height, weight, etc.

Mental illness is a disease. No different than Cancer, Diabetes or heart conditions. It needs to be discussed more to remove the stigma.

Not sure if I'm weak minded or sick but if he has family and friends which were supportive probably then what someone like me without a single person in real life could expect? I think my future is obvious.

It just gets to me that even after all that, all the support, this poor guy still felt a huge darkness looming over him. There's no hope sometimes, honestly.

I think the point is, no matter the company, youre always alone. Sorta. I feel like you being alone would be the same as you being surrounded by people while depressed.

For some people, when your mind is set on something, its set. I wish that wasnt the case.
