I think I'm old enough to no longer have to participate in any draft that may happen but if it involves Taiwan in any way I might feel like I have to participate out of ethnic obligation.

Well, USA, Israel, and Germany are currently trying really hard to start WW3 by bombing Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen. Then again, over 40 thousand people in Gaza died in just under a year, and that hasn't started WW3 yet. I guess Taiwan could become a reason for a world war starting if USA gets involved when China is trying to invade Taiwan. Which would be hypocrisy at it's finest, as USA sees no problem with the genocide in Gaza, and constantly sends billions of dollars, weapons, and air defence to Israel so that they can continue killing more people. I'm in my 20s so I'm still young enough to participate in a draft (it's not like age matters considering that the TCC in Ukraine kidnaps and sends 40+ year old men to their deaths), but I don't live in USA, so thank god that that won't be shit I have to deal with. Even if I was from USA, there's no way in hell that I would participate, I'd rather shoot myself instead of supporting a corrupt regime.

I have a feeling if it gets bad enough, they'll raise the age. It's currently 25, but I wouldn't doubt them raising it to 40 if they need to. Of course, circumstances would have to be very dire for a draft to even be considered. I've even heard proposing that women be made to register for selective service.

Yeah, that's my thoughts as well. We keep getting involved in other wars, Israel and Palestine, Ukraine and Russia, China and Taiwan (not exactly a war, per se, but you get the gist). I've never heard about the TCC, which makes sense as I am in the US and I imagine the media is keeping silent about it. If there were a draft, I probably just wouldn't show up. I doubt I'm alone in this either, as the older generations have consistently put down Gen Z, we're stuck currently with a bad housing market, stagnating wages, and living with the results of climate change denial since the 1980s.

Can't wait, I'm too old for frontline service but I can drive a truck so I'll get stuck in some rear echelon logistics role.
At least it'll break up my days a bit, if they give me a rifle as well even better lol.

The age for registration is 19-25. My frienf's job in the reserves is call people up and keep track of that stuff now in that event. IIRC you can't register after age 26, but the obligation to serve if drafted can extend until age 35. In times of extreme national emergency, the draft could potentially include men up to age 40 or older, again IIRC. Theoretically the government could dissolve all gender and age restrictions.

*edit: it comes in stages of priority by age.

*edit: per wiki, "U.S. federal law continues to allow for compulsory conscription for militia service under emergency or extraordinary security conditions. The law is described in Article I, Section 8 of the United States Constitution and 10 U.S. Code § 246.[5][6][7]Such conscription would apply to able-bodied men between the ages of 17 and 44 who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, U.S. citizens, as well as women in certain health care occupations."

Climate change started 10-12,000 years ago with the domestication of goats and irrigation of farmland, both of which led to massive desertification. (Areas that had port drainage would have salt buildup).

First off, appreciate this detailed reply!

I knew it was priority by age but I honestly thought that it stopped at 26. It's interesting that women in health care occupations could theoretically be conscripted, but I suppose it does make sense! I didn't know, however, that it went all the way to 44.

Also, I'm aware climate change began long ago. Realistically, much longer than 10-12,000 years ago, and more like billions, since the climate is always changing. Also, I never really mentioned the start of climate change, and more so the denial of climate change, which started in the 50s and became rampant in the 80s. Climate change in modern times is also much higher than any other rate in recorded history.

Here's my source for some of that: Source

Just a joke about NASA 🙃

I should have been more specific and said anthropogenic but you did specify denial rather than start date. Not to be fastidious but the direct warming effect of carbon dioxide is well known (first calculated in the late 1800s). But when did denial really start? Maybe the 70's or 80's. Either way, I take your point 😃

The future is not fixed, so our actions (including this thread) can change this, but if there are two more world wars a possible sequence is:

WWW III = top-down one-world-government versus bottom-up independents.
WWW IV = Humans and AIs that value humans versus people who see humanity as evil and AIs that see us as dangerous.
(War with extraterrestrials would not be a world war in the sense of WW I and WW II).

I work to guide things toward a future without more world wars.

In most cases, the words best remaining oil fields are not in disputed territories. There isn't even that much disputed territory that is currently drillable (i.e., most of the arctic ocean is not currently practical to extract oil from - it's hard enough even near the coast...).
What's crazy about Saudi Arabia is that it is typically incredibly easy to extract the oil - it isn't very deep down in the ground and it's easy to drill through the ground there. Therefore it's cheap to produce all that oil. That's very different than the Canadian oil sands, for instance, or deep water wells off the coast of Europe - those are all expensive places to drill. Oil prices have to be high to make it worthwhile to drill there but Saudi Arabia's oil is pretty much always easy to drill and with a nice profit margin for them.

Probably not over raw materials and arable land for farming.
War has become so expensive that before people go to war over a given resource, they will probably find alternatives to that resource (look at the cost of even a "minor" war like Ukraine).
Land could be an exception to that rule, but I suspect that bioengineering is about to usher in another green revolution that will increase the food supply far faster than the population, allowing us to retire some farmland for biodiversity.

There are thousands of videos of the TCC in Ukraine kidnapping men from the streets. Obviously the western world is silent about it, because they don't want people to think that they're supporting a country with a corrupt regime.

Just to show you a few examples of how the regular male citizens are treated in Ukraine by the government:

The media in the US is silent about this, just like they're silent about the genocide that's currently going on in Palestine.

Me neither. I would be scared to leave my house.

Basically. The Boomers' greed ruined the economy for Gen Z. If there were a draft, many people would fight against it because they don't want to throw away their lives for a country that isn't worth fighting for.

@hibikikyuxx, I appreciate this information. I haven't seen a lot of this, it's quite depressing to see tbh. For some reason, the one about countries recognizing Palestine was especially impactful. Also the videos of TCC and Israel are horrific. I've never supported either side of Russia-Ukraine war, and have been firmly on Palestine's side but I didn't know it was so terrible. The western media will NEVER cover this stuff either because they like to appear as the good guy in everything

Could easily be.
But its the nuclear element lurking in the background that is scary.
Watched a British film called 'Threads' which depicts a nuclear war and what happens next . It was made for TV back in 1984 and was so disturbing and brutally realistic and accurate it was only broadcast on U.K TV once. Although it is now 40 years old now it is still terrifying.
(If you are brave enough and want to know what nuclear war really looks like watch it on the internet. Its a brilliant piece of film making)

I feel like if any nuclear attacks occurred during WWIII, it would be mutually assured destruction. Obviously the biggest ones to worry about in terms of who has the most weapons and the capacity to destroy are Russia and the US, I think China comes in third but it's not even close to the number the US and Russia have, which are comparable but I know Russia has more.

Never even heard of the film, I might consider watching it but not sure! Thanks for the film recommendation though!

I wasn't talking to you, I replied to @ThatStateOfMind.
But still, what are you trying to tell "the person you replied to" with this post? That "the West" and the USA are purely evil and that Ukraine is forcing their own people to fight in a war, that they dont even want to fight? Like bro, spit your Kremlin Propaganda somewhere else, man.

Nothing. Just that he should watch out for himself if the draft returns and that USA is a country that isn't worth fighting for, due to the corrupt government which has been invading and bombing multiple countries since decades, and killed over 50 thousand people in Gaza under a single year. Even if I had something to tell @ThatStateOfMind, that's none of your business.
That "the West" and the USA are purely evil
Oh my god, shut the fuck up. I said that USA is currently committing the second Holocaust in Palestine, I never said that "the West" is purely evil.
And that Ukraine is forcing their own people to fight in a war, that they dont even want to fight?
Yes.🙂 The government in Ukraine is corrupt as fuck, has a history of nazism, and there are thousands of videos of male citizens getting beaten, kidnapped, and sent to their deaths by the TCC.

Whataboutism. Open a book and learn the definition of Propaganda, you stupid fuck. I don't give a flying fuck about Russia. Me pointing out the FACTS, that USA is sending billions of dollars, weapons, and soldiers to Israel to commit genocide and the second Holocaust, isn't Propaganda. Over 50 thousand people got killed in Gaza under a year and there are currently 28 mass graves in the Gaza Strip. Just recently it was shown that civilians are being transferred from northern Gaza to Israeli concentration camps blindfolded and in cages. That's literally what Nazi Germany has done in WW2. But you're probably one of those weirdos who justify it with "self defense".

Russia has more but the US has far greater upkeep and is currently revitalizing its nuclear program. US also has the best subs and the nuclear umbrella spreads them out to more locations like Western Europe and Turkey.

By nuclear umbrella I just meant NATO-hosted sharing of nuclear weapons along with the policy of guaranteeing non-nuclear allies defense.
The US military covers something like 20% of the island of Guam and has nuclear-capable bombers stationed there.

Please See:

Yes, I know it's Johnny Harris but you get the idea.
There is also the Seawolf which is insane but I don't believe thats meant for that, I believe thats the Ohio class's role IIRC.
