Here he talks about thoughts on CTB and someone made a remix out of it lol

his arguments are basically

1. 'The people around you will be sad'

Well i hate most people and i kind of think they deserve to be sad cause of how ive been treated all my life

2. 'You have intrinsic value and it is also not yours to decide to take your own life'
kind of an 'God would be mad'-argument..

Well im an atheist and think god would be a disgusting MF if hed exist..
cause why the hell would life suck so bad, why would nature be so gruesome, why would human nature be so selfish and disgusting if one omnipotent being could define the frame of life.. and then deliberately decide to let things be the way they are...

I have my SN, its just a matter of time i guess

Edit cause of grammar

This guy is a joke. He is a Christian and his entire world view is based on his religious background, which explains his meaningless stance regarding suicide. He made some really dumb remarks in the past, especially in debates with atheists. And I can't take him seriously solely because he fear mongered about trans people in the past, claiming people would get arrested for misgendering if the Canadian bill C-16 passed. Of course none of that happened. He is one of the reasons why trans people received a lot of hate in the past few years for literally no reason.

I like him, he's thought provoking. I wouldn't buy his book or live by his 12 rules, but when a free youtube video pops out every now and them and I'm hella bored, I'll watch. I think he helps people, I don't necessarily agree with whatever he's saying. And think he turned christian, he used to be an atheist, think after he got sick or something.

Edit: Watched the video, still keen to kms hehe. The last bit was chill.

This is what comes of those Christians who say "I'm right and everybody else is wrong".

If they truly believe they are right why are they so insecure that they need to coerce everybody else into agreement or at least passive non-resistance? They seem to feel there is safety in numbers. Their message isn't love but draconian conformity and punishment.

They have no respect for other views and therefore no respect for other people.

Their own Bible says "there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus". So gender should be entirely irrelevant.

They callously use their religion to disseminate hate. People are discriminated against and threatened as a result.

Obviously people use other religions in the same way.

Jordan Peterson is a Christian fundamentalist charlatan. His "self help" advice is basically truisms which he doesn't even follow himself. Or things like "don't make your kids into someone you hate". Nonsense. Don't fall for his con, he is very verbose but if you dig into his words you realize he is saying almost nothing. That or he's hiding his religious views behind flowery language. I am not a fan let's say.

I do think it's generally good to have anti-suicide stuff around, so that emotional kiddos don't make things worse for everyone (and possibly themselves with risky methods). It's not like benzo Kermit is going to have any effect on people like me that have very good reasons to die; but it might stop some confused and heartbroken 17 y/o or whatever. Good about mentioning the consequences for loved ones (probably the most solid reason for me to keep breathing this basement air for now); but I'm not liking the religious language unless they actually prove that kind of divine stuff exists (no, voices in your head doesn't count).

I like some of his thoughts but he's a certified mess. He doesn't have himself together inside and he's prone to emotional instability and defensiveness. I think if you want be a profound teacher of self advancement you need to showcase the results in yourself. I've followed him lightly over the years but he's too sloppy for me to take his work too seriously. Jordan's real specialty in my opinion is art analysis. He's really good at analyzing a piece of literature or a myth and articulating the universal meanings. I think he got that from his studies of Jung. Jung is advanced at that kind of work, too advanced for me, and Jordan is a decent introduction.

My favorite self help person is actually David Goggins. He teaches to fully come to terms with where you are and pushing the limit of what you can be. He transformed himself and he came from some deep self hatred and abuse. I don't need a life coach to be super fit but I would like that they can show that their advice can bring stability.

He is an academic who achieved fame exclusively by exploiting his platform/status.

Were he not a tenured professor at the University of Toronto, there is no way that his ideas about gender, for example, would ever gain any traction, because they are baseless, unoriginal, and pretty much ubiquitous among those who have unsubstantiated religious reservations about queer and trans people. There are many, many, many people with JP's views out in the world - the difference with JP is that he exploited his platform as an established academic to popularize work that was intellectually unrelated to his expertise and embarrassingly easy to dismiss as poor pop psychology.

Nah, he just went for low hanging fruit (self evident truth that should be assumed and not object of debate) using his academician reputation for gravitas. So basically what you said minus the part where what he has been saying is false, born out of religious sentiment, ignorant or "debunked".

I think he's more part of a intellectual current that is concerned with the dangerous level of falsities that are being socialized into people than a religious actor. That he is a religious bigot is probably an idea you find useful but you can be completely religionless and feel motivated to attack lies just because the truth matters.

He doesn't even use his own methods of self help when it comes to depression and suicidial thoughts. He went to Russia for some experimental chemical brain rewiring for his mental health problems all while promoting to his fanboys that Christianity, cleaning your room and bunch of self refection thoughts will save you.
He's fraud who promotes traditionalism as cure of mental health problems when in my opinion religion and societal pressure to conform is major cause of depression

He definitely struggles with deep emotional instability. I'm pretty sure his ramblings about finding meaning in life and suffering having purpose is him trying to convince himself out of his own turmoil. He's all over the place.

I mean, in fairness, I never called him a religious bigot, but I still think his hot takes are baseless, unoriginal, and very common among people who use religion to understand differences in sexuality and gender. I'm not sure what this has to do with the truth or attacking lies, or ideas that I find useful. I'm also critical of JP, but hold nothing against people who find comfort in his writing for whatever reason.

Did you guys know that lobsters have serotonin?

Well, it's true. But most importantly, some lobsters also develop crippling benzo addictions. But that's no issue, everyone knows that the best way for lobsters to turn their lives around is to get kidnaped by their psychotic lobster-daughter for a trip to Russia, the only place where lobster-doctors are allowed to put you into a medically induced coma for weeks in order for you to avoid the symptoms of your detox and the consequences of your actions.

There are some issues that can't be solved by washing your lobster-penis. Oh well, at least this particular lobster is a cautionary tale about the dangers of commonly prescribed medications.

His daughter cured herself by going on a diet where she eats nothing but beef, so apparently JP and his wife jumped on board. He claimed it cured his anxiety, which leaves us to wonder what the whole benzo addiction/Russian cure was all about. I don't think the nutritional imbalance is doing him much good.
