  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Night night is my preferred method to ctb and I'm very excited that I was able to get all the items needed.
I will probably ctb around late July/early August.
I wanted to start this thread to get the feedback of those who failed to ctb using this method and I also wanted to know what went wrong and what difficulties or challenges you faced with this method?
What suggestions would you give to someone who wants to use this method?

I'm aware there's a megathread of this method started by Kooz who introduced us to this method.
Lastly, I wanted users to share their experience and contribute to this thread in order to educate and help others.

I tried and had no success with it. Occasional fleeting feelings of blackout on the rare occasions I was able to compress the carotids, but nothing persistent or reliable.

I think the main reason for failure is inability to find and compress the carotid arteries in a successful way that doesn't also compress the jugular veins or windpipe. Accordingly, people attempt and feel either the pulsing head (jugular vein compression) or choking/suffocation (windpipe compression) symptoms and abort the attempt due to unpleasantness of these effects and SI having time to kick in. When done successfully, carotid compression should cause unconsciousness very rapidly, and death to reliably follow if this pressure is successfully maintained after loss of consciousness.

Note that a night-night attempt that correctly compressed the carotids but also incorrectly compressed the jugular and/or windpipe could still theoretically be successful if you completely prevented yourself from aborting the attempt (i.e. through self-restraint of hands etc.). I mean technically you can die from only compressing the jugular or windpipe without compressing the carotids at all. But time to loss of consciousness and death would take a lot longer, and the experience would be extremely distressing and unpleasant, in a way that a perfectly-working version on the night-night (carotids only) is not. I do not in any way recommend doing an imperfect version of the night-night method.

I think this failure to find and compress the carotid arteries can be both due to lack of practice or medical expertise, but also just differences in physical makeup due to weight and muscle development. Some people may have carotids that are just generally harder to find and compress, regardless of their technique.

What's the night night method?
https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/the-night-night-method-mega-thread.6834/

It seemed promising, but has no real success stories that I'm aware of due to the difficulty of creating consistent results.

I seriously wish this method worked as well as it was claimed. I was amazed when I first read the megathread. A peaceful out, almost instant, without having to drink poison or buy an illegal substance from some anonymous seller? Sign me up! If only it actually worked like that. Fine in theory, perhaps, but in practice it's much different.

Online there are news stories (USA) about young kids dying from the Choking Game. In one little boy's story, the parents said that he had severe brain damage, but his heart and lungs were still working when he was found. I can only assume that based on that the parents decided to let him go. It's deeply saddening for many reasons, not least of which because the boy did not want to die..

The news story also said that a stroke may occur from this 'game'. There are rumors that some members here have died from this method. I would say there's no proof of that unless it's been in the media; but, what could've happened is that they suffered other medical issues - and that may be why they have not logged-in since. We will never know the truth as to why some never log-in again. Maybe it failed and it ignited them to get some professional help or their family/friends rallied around them to help them get well.

So, reliable? Not always. It's because of these stories that I have not tried or practiced this method. Maybe I should just continue to breathe in my isolated, reclusive life until some life-threatening disease like cancer finally attacks me. Maybe then I'll have a medical reason to apply for assisted-death, in my own country.
