There are many parallels between the existence of this website/its resources and community and harm reduction organizations, such as for drug users. There are also many parallels between the stigmatization of each, and the widely held belief that both suicidal people and people who use drugs do not have the agency to decide what's best for their own lives, and should be forced into traumatizing forms of treatment against their will. It really goes to show how inherently cruel humanity is, how people judge and categorize each other's lives into levels of worthiness to exist, and how none of us are truly allowed to be free. It doesn't matter to most what circumstances defined our being. I believe that's why so many of us chase that freedom through catching the bus.

Anyone who believes people are mostly good is a fool. Human beings are at best complex and flawed with a sense of empathy, at worst cruel and calculating. Deep down they know there's no stopping suicide or drug use until a different, compassionate world is created. They want anyone who does not follow the script, does not see the value in living a modern life, who wants to escape (whether through getting high or catching the bus or whatever else) to feel maximum pain. That's why most are so against any form of harm reduction.

(I won't respond to stigmatization of drug use so keep it to yourself)

Very true, likewise for drug treatment (unless you have money to go to a private clinic). That's why so many relapse and start using again, just like many attempt suicide shortly after being released from psychiatric "care."
