On Twitter, that is the description here.
I found it to be precisely the opposite. People fall over themselves to help you with information that you are already seeking out. Nobody is preying by helping you find information to make your own informed choice. Nobody asks "Why haven't you CTB yet? You wasted my time. I gave you the info!". People here make it clear that it is okay to back out or rethink CTB. People have even dissuaded people who seem on the fence or are going to CTB for an everyday-occurring reason.
Lots of people helped me today with a query and I am thankful. It is not malicious. It is out of empathy. Something that you prosufferers can't understand.
There are enough sites that tell you "life is what you make it", "keep trying and one day things will work out!", "hang in there", but none give you credit that you have come to your own conclusion about which direction you are going in.
Are there a handful of people who have been here for years who haven't CTB? Sure. Are they actively trying to get others to CTB? Hell no. What the pro-sufferers on Twitter don't understand (and it took me a while to grasp too) is that this site is not a pro-suicide site. It is a pro-choice site that allows open discussion about depression and suicide. There is no rule that you have to have CTB within a year of being here. Don't you prosuffererers WANT people to post here forever without killing themselves?
"SaSu preys on the vulnerable": So if you want to kill yourself, you're automatically a vulnerable victim? There is no way of wanting to kill yourself without being one? You can't be empowered and make a decision yourself? It has to be cuz you were taken advantage of? Do you understand that people have been killing themselves before forums existed? Sure, this site may have given more people the tools to make their own choice but that is only a bad thing if you think life - any shitty life - is inherently good and worthwhile.
