I'm curious what people think. Maybe Zuckerberg will have some competition (joke).

I'm just afraid this site will become way more popular that almost everybody know its existence. It's better for SS to stay "under the radar" to avoid public backlash and government censorship.

Yeah, too much filler. Its a shame a forum like 8ch is pretty dead atm, much better place to actually research what those who are serious need.

Very unlikely anything would happen to it apart from SS being censored (which has already happened: the Australian government blocked IP's to SS, 8chan, 4chan, Liveleak etc after Christ Church within Australia).

8chan is magnitudes better than SS. People can speak their minds and say whatever the fuck they want without the threat of SJW repercussion. This attitude gives people incentive to actively want to help people because they see others with just as much detritus in themselves as they have. I don't always feel like this forum deserves constructive information sometimes with braindead normies doing 0.1% actual research for themselves and spamming "guys how much SN, anti-emetics etc etc do I need...." in the megathread, more than likely just for attention. I know this sounds pretty harsh but this is a fucking suicide forum ffs. Not to mention the sheer amount of solid (useful) information on 8chan as well (though its roughly the same as SS, but the quality of that information is way better).

btw 8chan /suicide/ definitely not dead atm.

Both I guess. This site can help people who truly know suicide is their best option, but also encourage those who are just lost in their lives and at the moment think this is their best option.

I think it's good. Where would you talk about suicide besides here?

Not quite what I meant. Facebook is about juicy goss and SS sometimes dramatizes things too. Nothing wrong with discussion but over-exaggerating details here and there and being overly emotional with factual information is the danger zone.

The site is already growing massively. When I joined last year there was max of around 300 active at one time. It's only going to get bigger so I guess it's inevitable it will face backlash eventually

Eventually. But I think the admins are pretty switched on to that.

Nothing to immediately worry about. Give it another year or so and things might change but I doubt this site will ever go under. 8chan is still up after 6 years and that site is the dark side of the surface web. Very deep level of cancer albeit refreshing and heaps relatable.

At least now we know there are a lot of people who actually want to put an end to life.

There is definitely a large number of people on here that will never even attempt or be institutionalized for an attempt, let alone successfully commit suicide, which isn't a bad thing. I also feel that open forums like these can attract people who aren't necessarily serious, which is why I prefer less active sites and private groups. No questions like "is putting my head into a microwave a viable method?"

8ch is -jugding from content and layout- very technical. This website is more accessible. I think it (and internet as a whole) might change the way people suicide. Less stupid ideas, like wrist cutting, more people exploring new peaceful alternatives like SN. Soon the "surface people" will notice.

Some people need it. Theres no good way to talk about this stuff on normal social media sites without being disliked by your peers, made fun of etc...

Good. To some this place is freedom. I would love to see some statistics on this sites growth. I also agree that keeping it under the radar is important.

Even on the numerous health groups im part of there is very little room for suicide talk - despite the state many are in. No way on earth can methods be discussed ever!
This is the only place of I know.
Many of us are in situations that are highly emotional and don't want to be here really but find comfort in it at the same time as are so desparate.
As long as i don't have to deal with trout pout selfies i don't care.

I think I know what you mean. I guess it has its pluses and minuses. There seem to be dozen of "popular" people that always gets myriads of replies on any questions,sb else may ask the same and get noreply whatsoever. But I guess it doesnt matter that much.
I as well rather prefer well researched content, but have to admit ,myself I am not good at expressing myself (more effort from non native English speakers),and also after antipsychotic injections I could not hold a thought and think at all, doing research was out of the question, so I sometimes must ve sound pretty stupid :/

With the exception of ' can i chainsaw my own head off' most people on here come across to me as pretty intelligent and articulate. I don't think anyone comes across stupid- just totally nuts!

So ive just been on one of my many many closed facebook health groups. Now and again, because of the nature of these horrid illnesses and depression someone may say they are feeling suicidal or have suicidal thoughts. The common response as seen today is the posting of links to samaritans, being advised to go to A and E immediately!! Being advised to go speak to g.p immediately, f***g prayers, it goes on.
There are no places at all to openly say yes this is sh** and actually be able to talk about it without others doing everything they can to shut those feelings down.
I cannot imagine the reaction if one went to ER or A and E and said i feel suicidal. Slightly off topic.

Everyone has the potential to become suicidal. So even if it becomes popular or not, the admins try to make this site as discreet as possible. Also, as long as you don't give personal information and use a VPN, you'll be fine.
