I like having this place to turn to. It's literally a Godsend for me because the whole suicide thing is so damn lonely
. I tried talking about suicide related stuff on other sites such as reddit, but after the banning of their sanctioned suicide, all I get is the occasional pro-lifer spew or nobody responds at all because they don't give a flying fuck about me wanting to hang myself. This place is a rare gem and I'm hoping it's safe from being forced down. Y'all are all great and I hope others like us will have this site to turn to in the future. I don't know the rules of the web...like was suicide alt holiday forced down? Or did it just die over time? Are we safe from being shut down?

Servers are outside of jurisdiction of countries that would be able to shut it down, plus it has DDOS protection. The only thing to worry about is a self implosion. Sites like this seem to implode, rather than explode.

I would guess as long as the hosting fees are paid, domain name ect. it will be up, And there arent to many complaints.this isnt the kind of site that will generate any ad revenue, so its a personal interest kind of thing.

Now that you mention AD revenue, I would just like to say, I wouldn't be against there being an ad at the bottom of the page if it meant the server fees remained paid. Not gunna pay attention to that shit anyway, and it would certainly lighten the financial burdens on personal funds.

Of course I'd prefer no ADs, but I would understand if they were ever to become needed one day..

No legitimate company would want to be affiliated with a prochoice suicide site. They could be sued by an angry parent ect. punitive judgements would be astronomical.

Not much point in suing a subsidiary as the plaintiff is essentially owner or part owner at least so in essence you are suing yourself.

True good point. I'mI doubt Pepsi publicity team would want to be affiliated...but I wouldn't underestimate how far some advertising people are willing to go. For example, 8chan makes money from advertisers.

I don't think a parent suing an ad company on a website their child visited would hold up in court. Their risk comes from ruining their reputation, but some companies can re-brand themselves before the reprocussions ruin them.

Agreed and as the server is offshore, this is under the jurisdiction of the country where the server is located. It would be very difficult if not impossible to sue.

So I know old thread but was wondering on this point...
I couldn't get to the site the other night and googled to see if it had been shut down... There is actually a petition online, made by a parent of someone who ctb after finding info here. Can this have any bearing on the future if the site?

Petition

It's absolutely sick that they can get away with telling such blatant lies about the forum, and promoting suffering instead of dying! Someone should start a petition to stop anti-choice people doing this sort of thing!
